how long does the new war quest take to finish ?

~4-5 hours for me I think? It's fairly long, which is why it warns you ahead of time.

you can exit the game anytime but you are stuck in the quest it seems until you finish it

I expected it to be meh, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i didn't expect to not even finish it due to the possibly worst storytelling i had the displeasure to put up with. Guess i can finally quit this mess after 9 years.

You can take breaks. Some aspects of completionism might make you take more, but it is about 6 hours long.
