Well, keep in mind this game is overall based to collect stuff. For Nikana you need Rank Mastery 4, for Dragon Nikana 8 and for Nikana Prime 12.

There aren't many ways to level up your Mastery Rank: completing new nodes in Star Chart and level new stuff.

So you will need level other stuff before can use Nikanas.

So... craft other weapons? yeah, do it. Everything that you can level up will give you mastery rank.

Good luck!

Yeah, but also when getting new weapon slots try not to forget to level the lower level weapons you already got. (I.e., most of my weapon inventory slots were through Nora's NightWave radio side quests and eventually one or twice acquired with the initial Plat' you are given.)
The previous poster was right in his/her advice, but also don't forget this tiny bit of info' as well. :winter2019happybulb:

For instance, atm I'm stuck with levelling a regular Burston and I'm at MR 17, which is ludicrous for me to try and pull off that sort of missions solo, but I still do try. :creatigoo:

You can level that up in 2-3 waves in ESO. No need to solo. It's also the reason why people leave after the 2nd wave, with a booster, you can take an unrank weapon to rank 30 in those 2 waves.

and if you do co-op which is always the best move and get a group that would be down to farm ESO, you can easily max out every weapon and warframe in just a few hours (if you have the slots)
Hok in Cetus will make you a nikana using a Sepfahn strike and one handed grip. I can highly recommend combining it with a Peye grip and Ekwana II Jai link. You'll need to reach rank 3 reputation with the Ostron to get all the required zaw part and mining blueprints.

For an 'oddish' reason, I've mentioned it solo. :creatiboom: And it was because, alas, most ppl playing public games can't be bothered to play it a tad more slowly (apart the usual gun ablaze mindlessly waltzing in forward) and thus allowing others to catch up even when they're obviously levelling lower level weapons, WF's or even Sentinels (such as a guilding a Moa).

leveling your weapons in solo is pure pain and chore because of how xp gain works. You will burn out yourself very fast.

Leveling everything that can be leveled (Pets, weapons, pet weapons, vehicles ...) is how you gain mastery rank. Which you will need, so yes- take other weapons and frames as well!

Always level a weapon you have to 30. Then decide if you wanna keep it or not. Slots are easy to come by even without payment, in the end you may even end up keeping just all weapons and frames (i know i did ;) )

You gain mastery XP- affinity- every time something levels up, every new level. Make sure to "max" a weapon. If you lets say stop at 16 you will later have to come back to that weapon (build/purchase it again) and level it up to 16 again until you gain any.
Every piece of equipment grants affinity only once. Leveling up a second braton wont do you any good.

You do not need to actually use the weapon. Just have it with you. Even more so if you are in coop. That guy who just joined and smashes everything in your path? Keep up with him, as long as he got those three dots next to his name he is in affinity range. You will get *all* the "xp" as well!
It will be divided between everything you have on yourself.

Thus- a SINGLE round of ESO with a booster is actually enough to level a weapon from 0 to hero. If you got some empty slots. (A special mission accessible somewhere...mid game these days? A favorite for doing so due to its fast spawn. Also: quantity over quality. While higher level gives you a bit more affinity per enemy, its mostly about the enemy type and numbers, different factions award different xp too and ESo just got high spawnrates at medium level)

So: Craft/Buy/Loot whatever you can, take it with you on your journey. Join coop, thats where the game takes place!

There are some missions which are more or less favorites to "just level stuff", but especially while you are just starting out- just take some training stuff along with you. Wont hurt and you will likely want to unlock more missions anyways. Also: These favorites aint necessarily the actual "best", just most convenient. Joining a clan may let you access the best. Having a stable group of people to play with usually has a lot of benefits, including going for some of the strangest strategies and generally- more fun!

And ask questions, some people are actually kinda helpful. I had more than one padawan so far too ;)
