Yeah, 1 will be wondering on the ship (except they don't go in the cockpit area).
I mostly use them for fashion.
Just the one. Even in the future, cats and dog together? No, no, no... (plus kittehs look cuter on the kat beds)
-----
cats / dogs just die too easily vs tougher enemies / AOE. You really have to be moving around a lot (which forces the pets to move as well, else they WILL sit down on a pool of lava or chlorine dioxide). But for Steel Path and below, they can help a lot. I use config slots to tailor pets to each frame/mission (i.e. Oxylus for hunting/gathering/mining)
Regardless... just too squishy. If it's a long duration arbi/etc, I usually take out a Djinn... having a pet some of the time is better than none of the time. Else be prepared to have your operator pull pet-revive duty constantly.
Kubrows are good too if you're willing to stat stick for status and have the 60/60 kubrow mods.
Situational and take a lot of forma but far from useless.
It is 100% personal preference though, there are no real game defining downsides between picking sentinels over pets and vice-versa.
2x cheat deaths, tho my kubrows and charger rarely go down enough to matter (+ revive as they port to you so you don't need to run back hundreds of meters to them)
The only sentinel I could justify is the dijin (spell check) for the self revive in arbitrations if at some point they could die... "If"
um mine does almost every time i log on.
If you said yes to any of those questions, then the vulpa is for you.
It's bit sad there is little balance when it comes to pet. Sentinel are bad because they get one shot 2m inside a mission thats not mercury or earth. Kubrow are better, but have little tools that help the player, beside vacuum. Kavat are the step above, providing tools and the ability to be resurected, but they die a lot in harder content. And vulpa are the final step, providing tools and being immortals.
OFC, it's a PITA because vulpa are ugly AF and we can't use the kavat skins on them. Also, they all look the same, while kavat and kubrow have RNG to make them somewhat unique looking.
It's sad, but it is what it is.
