Is there a red crit build for primary assault rifle?
I can't take shotguns or snipers due to low fire rate and ammo

Yeah, the soma can reliably red crit with its entrati mod. I got it to do 1mil damage red crits on every shot when i had void corruption buff. Now you wont see numbers like that on non relic missions, but it was highly entertaining.

Edit: the actual build is pretty basic, aside from that mod you get from father, i also have a riven with cc, cd and base damage with -zoom that works wonders, use crit delay, since the thing is already a bullet hose and bladed rounds, vital sense, etc. I'd post a screen but im at work atm.

Harrow will get you to red crit territory as well. Albeit headshot only.

"Red crit" just means your shots go past 200% crit. It doesn't necessarily mean the numbers will still be great, though, if the base damage itself wasn't that high to begin with. (In other words, the raw numbers matter more than their colour)

This is a good point, as my example, the soma, has an absurdly low base damage, and without the father mod and void corruption to give it a 5000% crit chance, it will basically tickle anything over about level 40 with any amout of armor. Slash procs will do some residual damage, but numbers will usually be low. The only reason i even mentioned the soma was because he specifically asked about assault rifles and I had dumped 7 forma into that soma build in an attempt to make it sortie and sp viable (it is not btw).

Actually, it's very relevant if you're dealing with a Necromech. Even if you land the shot on it's tiny weakpoints, it reduces all damage down to roughly the same 'plink damage' levels based on the DPS of the gun.

But it doesn't affect crits at all. Which means making a crit-machine gun, something that has a high Crit% and Crit Mult, will just cause a Necromech to just melt. It's also not the only enemy to do this, just the one I'm currently stuck dealing with. Made a special-purpose Gaze Kitgun which works pretty well on a Necromech (and near useless against anything else), but looking into better alternatives.

My 7 forma soma prime with a pretty decent riven on top agrees.

Tickles, an amprex with Galvanized Scope, critical delay and a moderate amount of CC riven will get you to red crit territory all of the time. For higher crit chance just to satisfy your eyes, get a 2 positive 1 negative riven with CC, the chaining will do even more red crits since well, it chains, so more numbers popping. It's not OP at all, but it will satisfy your eyes.

I forgot, add the adarza kavat for a flat +60% critical chance, as the above will bring you to 250% which is half the time orange crits, the adarza brings you a stable 300%+ crit chance

Warframe is all about multipliers, focus too much on one multiplier and you lose damage. If you get red crits that usually means that you have focused wayyy too much on crit chance and your build is severely unoptimal.
