Okay, my mistake, I just tested it, you do receive the rewards correctly if you go to the Dock or Relay (I'd still much rather have a return to Orbiter option), but you're incorrect about continuing to the next one. If you continue directly to another mission, all the rewards are carried over to the next mission's reward screen.
After two void storm missions I received 20 and 40 void traces. If I then went to navigation on my Railjack I was not able to use any of these traces to upgrade relics. I have to go to a Dry Dock or Orbiter to do that.
Okay, I'm just seeing all these research options, I just didn't know what to look for. Thanks for the information.
That behavior is just how the game handles rewards and not really unique to RJ missions.
this wouldnt even be point of consideration if all orbiter features were available in the dojo. something i hope will eventually be implemented.
i would love to have an ops section in the dojo where you essentially have your orbiter right there, either as one large special room, several smaller, or just as functional decoration items that can be placed (foundry, mods station, etc).
This "feature" is not only in RJ but also in normal Endless missions (Interception, Survival, Defense etc) It sucks but for one reason or another loot is moved in your inventory after exiting these missions.
Alas, I cannot say anything worthwhile about the Sigma series, because I never found anything worthwhile in it before I found something better as a random drop. Admittedly, this could well be because I got quite a bit of railjack loot before I ever built my own, plus I topped out my railjack well before the big rework. If the Sigma series was improved in the rework, I never had a chance to see it.
To me, the final nail in the Sigma series' coffin was the fact that it took three days to research each tier. It should never take more time to get a piece of starter equipment than it does to go out and loot a better one. The only time I invested in a Sigma series part was for the new plating component, and the Mk III Sigma plating I worked for was blown away by my first MK I random plating drop. This isn't subjectively terrible, it's objectively terrible. My experience thus allows me to make only one judgement about the Sigma series, and it's that Sigmas are weak, take too long to acquire from scratch, and are not worth the investment in time and resources that could be spent on any other piece of random loot.
There is only one scenario I can imagine where Sigmas might be useful, and that's in trying out different weapon archtypes. However, here especially, the total lack of bonus stats means that Sigmas will under perform, leading to the exact scenario you describe- people coming on the forums and complaining that "X is too weak," when it's not the weapon archtype that's the problem, it's the Sigma stats that are holding it back.
Basically, Sigmas need a rework to give them some sort of advantage. Even something as simple as making them cost regular planetary resources instead of railjack-specific items would give them a couple niches to fill, allowing them to get a leg up on the initial hump, as well as allow testing weapon archtypes without a severe opportunity cost. However, as things currently stand, a Sigma part will only eat valuable resources people need for good equipment.
All that said, there is one piece of equipment that cannot be looted- the Ordnance. Right now, if anyone wants anything better than the default Tycho Seeker, they need to have access to a clan's dry dock.
