Sometimes the only way to make it reappear is to be close to it by accident when a cycle ends or explore every inch of the map.
It works "most" of the time, or gets hidden by other icons and moving toward them can uncover it.... but sometimes it is just gone.
Haven't played much recently but sad to see this still happens, especially if this is a new map/area. Wish they would fix it.
I heard from other players the map indicators used to work flawlessly and then got broke during an update before I even played the game... so I don't hold out much hope of them ever fixing the issue.
Being disabled and having nerve pain makes me not even play survival on some tile sets since the pain can kick up and I am forced to play an extra 40 mins just trying to find the exit. It is torture.
