Gamers: we want games to run at 300fps so we can enjoy 144-240Hz monitors and amazing competitive aspect of it as well as more immersive landscapes.
Motion blur creator: how about me taking a huge explosive dump on your screen and smear it and also use system resources to smear it even more.
1) looks worse
2) makes game run worse
3) makes you disoriented and possibly even dizzy for not being able to see everything
I am sorry, there is no benefit of it apart from it's cinematic effects in cutscenes and maybe some slow motion scenes and I am still surprised to see it in games at this level, who in sane mind likes it?
it is legit first thing I turn off when I open the game, if not in main menu then after game rendered approximately 33 frames and I am already sick of it.
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, it's an advanced shadowing effect that adds subtle shadows to the edges and corners of some objects. It's a good first step to disable that, if you're aiming for better performance, as SSAO is subtle and not noticible when you're in the middle of combat. SSAO is a fairly hefty performance hit, too.
Additionally, I have Bloom off because I just don't like how it looks (it's worse when playing with other people, all those effects and bright lights everywhere), if you're indifferent to bloom, that's another option you can turn off which will improve performance by a small amount.
hmm ok and how does bloom look bad? and does it add a good amount more fps or just like 1 or 2?
i kinda like motion blur tho xD
Film grain makes game look worse and few famous titles suffered significant fps drops because of it. I turned it off the moment I figured out I got it turned on. It's hard to tell if I gained even 1% more fps but I dont think it takes 0% resources and I know I hated this effect the moment I spent first hour in Mass Effect 1.
Tekken 7 players also hate it since there is tone guides on how to turn it off through editting config files (there is no option to turn it off directly unless you decrease overall detail level).
