i personally have SSAO off and particle effects dissabled, they are over the top anyways~ you can lower shadows, turn off tesselation, game can be very chaotic so there is no time to look around when everything shoot at you xD

motion blur is waste of resources that makes your game look worse.

Needing to render a blurring effect is incredibly taxing from what I've seen. Truly a waste of processing power.

it is normal to assume that worse looking game takes less resources but someone who invented motion blur had different mind set....

Gamers: we want games to run at 300fps so we can enjoy 144-240Hz monitors and amazing competitive aspect of it as well as more immersive landscapes.

Motion blur creator: how about me taking a huge explosive dump on your screen and smear it and also use system resources to smear it even more.

1) looks worse
2) makes game run worse
3) makes you disoriented and possibly even dizzy for not being able to see everything

I am sorry, there is no benefit of it apart from it's cinematic effects in cutscenes and maybe some slow motion scenes and I am still surprised to see it in games at this level, who in sane mind likes it?
it is legit first thing I turn off when I open the game, if not in main menu then after game rendered approximately 33 frames and I am already sick of it.

Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, it's an advanced shadowing effect that adds subtle shadows to the edges and corners of some objects. It's a good first step to disable that, if you're aiming for better performance, as SSAO is subtle and not noticible when you're in the middle of combat. SSAO is a fairly hefty performance hit, too.

Additionally, I have Bloom off because I just don't like how it looks (it's worse when playing with other people, all those effects and bright lights everywhere), if you're indifferent to bloom, that's another option you can turn off which will improve performance by a small amount.

hmm ok and how does bloom look bad? and does it add a good amount more fps or just like 1 or 2?

I am convinced that bloom in this game is an obstacle designed to make your grinding harder.

the game has TAA settings if you have a very highend card. go all out if you got the power with no slow downs. there are alot of settings in Advanced that people cant do cause its for highend cards.

If your screen combines relatively small size paired up with high resolution you are using getting rid of anti aliasing is good idea.
Film grain makes game look worse and few famous titles suffered significant fps drops because of it. I turned it off the moment I figured out I got it turned on. It's hard to tell if I gained even 1% more fps but I dont think it takes 0% resources and I know I hated this effect the moment I spent first hour in Mass Effect 1.
Tekken 7 players also hate it since there is tone guides on how to turn it off through editting config files (there is no option to turn it off directly unless you decrease overall detail level).

as far as biggest trade-off goes, disabling AF did it for me. orb vallis ran in mid-40's before, rock solid 60 now. i did not notice a visual difference but that may be just me.
