unable to mine ore since the update

I have both the Nosam cutter and Sunpoint Plasma Drill and although they detect ore I am unable to mine the ore with either on Fortuna. The Plasma Drill does not work in the Plains either, not sure about the Cutter though.

Another question. When fishing I can choos from three fishing poles bt pressing the '1' key. The three poles also appear at the bottom right of the screen when I press the '1' key. I do not have that option for the mining tools, why?

well the mining tools all act the same except for the radar bit that the sunpoint and advanced nosam offer.
fishing spears however dont. each type of spear is more - or less- effective at dealing with different type of fish, so youll want to swap between them depending on spots.

in other words you only need to equip one mining tool and one fishing spear to engage mining or fishing mode, but unlike mining you actually need access to the other fishing spears so you can can change between them when you fish

Thanks, but why am I unable to mine with the new mining tool? I can see the ore but there is no cut area around it and simply shooting it at lenght with the tool does nothing.

They changed the cutting mechanic. Now it's it's just heat up the glowing spot, trying to get the heat level in the middle of the white brackets.

Are you mining at the blue dots?

Doesn't much matter, they nerfed mining. I didn't see more than 1 piece of ore per node in over a dozen nodes. Same goes for gems.

ill explain a bit on what they asked;
when fortuna was added the mining mechanics were updated: instead of cutting along the lines for the vein you find, you now aim at it and look for glowing dots. blue glow = what you lazer.
as you lazer you have a timing based minigame where you need to release when youre within the marker, closer to center of the marker the higher you score.

Then you're cutting it wrong. :/ I've never gotten so little. Make sure you're heating it up to the centre of the white brackets.
