cap is there to make sure you do not focus on one thing too much and forget about the others
Yes some people will cap out early and ♥♥♥♥♥ but that's their choice, just like its a choice to use plat to buy/rush everything as opposed to getting the blueprints, grinding the resources and waiting for them at the foundry. The caps and the grind are designed to tempt people to spend money on the game, which is fair they are a business after all but I just don't buy that argument.
Yes there is.
Buying things with plat only offers you what the game randomized for you, it does not offer you the ability to create whatever you desire without grinding. IE. Kitgun / Moa / K-Drive
Mining and Fishing Vendors offers "Today's Special", but that does not contain the rarer type of materials you get from actually getting from Orb Vallis.
The reason for Standing cap ISN'T JUST stop players from burning out.
But it also force you to take a break from grinding standing, because you need the down time to grind other things - Ores, Fish materials, Animal conservation, K-Drive stunts.
Standing cap is in a sense - You can have your ice cream, but until you eat your veggies, this is the only amount you get to have.
Imagine the scenario where a player have no caps - They grind to Tier 5 with Fortuna on day 2. Having access to all the blueprints etc. But then now they have to spend the next 4 weeks out on Fortuna grinding materials, and fishing, because now bounties doesn't offer anything they would actually need.
I'm MR26, 27,000 daily cap.
I log in, I max out Vent Kids standing, I trade in bonds to almost max out Solaris, I run a few bounty to finish getting the new mod set, major syndicate cap maxed. Now it offers me down time to go mine, fish, animal conserve. All withoout having to feel the pressure of - "I could get more standing, I should probably go grind some more bounty."
And your reasoning of "Some people will cap out early, but that's their choice" is faulty. In that sense, might as well message Steve on Twitter, and ask him to implement an "unlock all" button, and tell him, if someone wants to ruin the experience for themselves, it's their choice. Doubt that sound right to you.
DE never spring any new updates unexpectedly on us, Plains of Eidolon, hell Syndicates itself holds standing cap since years ago. You had YEARS to prepare, to rank up your Mastery Rank if you really wanted to grind more per day.
My problem with standing the way it is its inconsistent and contradictory. For things like syndicates and the operator they make more sense because you gain standing passivley through every day missions. With eidolons you can bypass operator standing entirley as well which is nice, nothing prevents people from grinding eidolons all day albeit while its night on cetus.
Warframe is a game built on choice and there is more than enough content to burn people out, you could farm relics all day, you could grind the index or arbitrations or rank up weapons to increase your MR till your hair falls out. etc. etc. No caps on resources, endo, credits, plat etc. People also have different schedules, some days they want to play more some days less.
I'll give you a counter example. I built a kit gun, was all exicted, leveled it up and then tryed to guild it. To my dissapointment I needed to get to the next rank to do that. Fine thats not too bad, today I would need about 14k more to do it which is enough. Here's the problem: because my cap is at around 15k I need another 5k to guild it. I won't even be able to guild it unless I had a cap of 20k. Needless to say it killed my exictment and put me off the whole thing.
I still think rhere are better solutions. Why don't we just make the rewards we get from standing more worthwhile? I wouldnt mind if they cost allot more than they do now if they were less grindy to make and the caps were removed or relaxed. Whats the point of getting an entire set of moa bps for 2k standing when crafting and guilding it is a much more tedious process that is locked behind daily standing caps.
Stop pretending that this game isn't about time gates and microtrans. Its there when you first start the game, it'll be there forever.
Honestly, that system is far more infuriating than a daily cap.
It's less infuriating when they say it's a bonus (seriously, look up the time WoW put in diminishing returns on XP before changing it to rested XP)
It let's people keep progressing (albeit slower) If they reach the cap, and doesn't affect those who don't.
