Update failed! need help

Tried to start the game but kept getting message Update failed! Please try again later. The update will start shortly......

Idem, i can't start the game, the launcher fail the update. Re-install the game and the error still happen.

change launcher language few times, let it try and do it, change to asian options as well.

Yeah me too. I tried many things, most of the things I found on the internet and nothing, changing the language seems to help at first then went back to this error.

This happened to me as well. I managed to get it to work by launching it as administrator from the available launcher in \Steam\steamapps\common\Warframe\Tools

The only way I could find to get past the "update failed" screen was to set "Launcher.exe" to "Run as an administrator" in the windows compatibility settings.

Not sure why this is necessary to successfully launch the game now. Launcher needs to be patched asap.

We've been chasing this -- it's caused by a corrupt Steam\config\config.vdf -- find your SDL_GamepadBind block and delete it (it'll be massive -- maybe polluted with redundant entries because of Steam Beta? not sure).

Not sure yet why it's breaking the launcher though.

I had to select a install folder from running the launcher from there, then had it update, but so far, so good, thought it was my warframe, so i reinstalled just in case, will update this if all is good.


EDIT
It seems the only way to update the launcher IS this way, and for now the only way to play the game as far as I can tell.

Glen, could there be an issue with config files related to having installed the game from the Epic Store? Many people probably did this recently for the weapon skins...

Glen, could there be an issue with config files related to having installed the game from the Epic Store? Many people probably did this recently for the weapon skins...

issue is much older than EGS it self.
