I can't see why the atterax is considered good

I've tried so many things with this darned thing, even going as far as trying out the top five builds on warframe builder, and yet all it does are double digits. Why is this considered by so many to be good? Is it a joke and I'm just missing the sarcasm? I've invested four forma into it already and it'd be a shame if it was just a joke, but still understandable. Same with the dual ichor.

most will get slash mod ticks make you gain a combo meter point,get it so it has critical slash procs and moreless scale VERY high into things after that ticker is up

Don't use Warframe Builder to gauage values. It is very VERY wrong.
The Atterax has among the highest range in the entire game, especially with Primed Reach. It has very high Slash damage ratio (90%) meaning it will proc Bleed more often than Impact/Puncture by far which is incredible for a bleed build. It also has one of the highest crit chances at 25% and a strong 3.0x multiplier. Status chance is also pretty high at 20%.

Double digits? I'm not sure you have any mods on it at all. Did you forget to unequip your Extinguished Dragon Key? Pretty basic melee crit build - Primed Pressure Point, Primed Reach, Drifting Contact, Blood Rush, Maiming Strike, Berserker, then either an elemental combo or extra slash, the lowest you'll be seeing in damage numbers from then on is 5 digits.

ITs normal attacks are pretty slow and dont hit many things either its best attack is its spin attack which is why maiming strike is so good with it,. Just run around spinning liek a top and everythign in a very large area around you is dead.

Using builds made by others will have that effect as they are suited for those players in particular, you do not search for builds, you make your own based on what you know.

there is a thing called fun, not everyone going to like the same build, and CC is better in some case than pure damage, especially for melee with high range, just put some blast on it and you got it, also you should look for dmg builds only if youre doing something like Raids/sortie only, for the starchard, pure dmg builds arent that important, once i got a riven for supra, rolled firerate and mag capacity on it, i only put 2 elemental dmg on it to fill the space, the rest very reload speed, fire rate and more mag capacity, melted everything up to lvl 60, never had this much fun just like this

It seems that we might have two completely different weapons here... I have the exact build started by chatbot, except the primed mods are one level below max, and it's still extrememly lackluster. The lowest damage numbers are double digits though that might be because of elemental resistances, but on average the damage is ~1k on a crit and normally not always in the three digits. I mainly use it for spinning as well so that can't be the issue, and whenever i tried to use it instead of an orthos prime for focus farming, I usually end up going from spinning to doing a finisher on an enemy halfway across the room. I was hoping it does what you all have described here, but it just doesn't. Also, I don't not like the weapon, else I would've given up way before putting four forma onto this thing, I was just hoping it would be better than a prova.

Modding is a basic mechanic and each player will get different mods and will pick different weapons based on what they think it's best.
If the player is still searching for builds then it means he doesn't know what mods do, he is simply picking a build from a website and has no clue on how to use it.

Usefull advice is teaching how to fish, not giving the player said fish.

If he is asking on how several top builds are not working, this topic in itself is a great example on what happens when someone tries to copy a build instead of making one that the player knows it will be effective.
remember, the "top" 5 builds aren't working, if that isn't a huge givaway that the strategy isn't working, i don't know what is.

Remember, you are free to build in whatever way you want, but if you are copying builds without having the adequate gameplay to back it up, then you will always be at the very most an average player, being the most likely scenario a dreadfull state.

It's not me that needs to learn something here, so the results that come from here will not affect me, but will affect OP.

The weapon requires MR2 and if the player is around that rank then it's fairly tolerable modding difficulties, maybe the player is indeed making an effort in doing builds but made the mistake of copying them, if he on the other hand is doing sorties and has explored quite a bit of the star map, then the situation is allarming and learning the modding system becomes a top priority.

it requires maiming strike... without maiming its just decent...everyone that uses this thing is using it WITH maiming strike... that is how they get the massive numbers and one shot everything.

Edit:

Everyone that sits and claims the atterax is so awesome i almost GAURENTEE they are using maiming strike, take that off and then try the atterax... is it bad? no... but is it nearly as amazing as say a lesion? i dont think so.... not even close.

I used to easily solo orokin derilect defense with atterax and volt up to 40(before memeing strike) so I have no idea what your doing but it's wrong..
