Should I "optimize my install?"

I have 3510 MB of wasted space, and the launcher asked me if I want it to be optimized.
I'm using HDD not SSD.
If you have done this, how long does it take for you? How big was the wasted space? And what's your CPU?

If you do it, go out for lunch or something. It can take a while. Probably more than an hour for over 3 gigs of wasted space. The last time it offered me this, it was just over one gig, and it took nearly an hour.

disk is still the slowest part of your system for non ssd. Making it perform better will make the game run better. The game is a little dated and runs well anyway, so dunno if its worth it. I think it took 5 or 10 min the last time I did it.

I think of it more like email. You know how email makes an always growing local disk file even if you delete the old mail, it just reuses that space later before growing again... you have to manually tell it to shrink now and again. Seems to be similar -- it grows when it needs more space, and it puts stuff in the space sort of randomly -- optimize will reduce the space and order the data in there better. Reducing the space probably has no real performance impact, but if its fragmented in there (not sure if it is) then it will help.

yes your game will run smoother, but does take awhile.
