But yes, as of PoE (or actually, as of War Within update; PoE simply changed things around in the already-introduced system), 'wraith mode' was replaced by Operator mode using its separate upgradeable weapon and five abiity trees that, instead of being small augment to a single ability, provide you with boosts/effects of all your Operator mode actions including dash, melee, and so on.
that way operator mode can be used for more niche but more powerfull abilities like a channeling ability that invunerability stripped, that would make more sense then, "the shields need the operators"
i just wanted the operator to be a magician more then just a finicky version of warframes
