Steel Charge or Growing Power for Excalibur Chromatic Blade?
Hello

Which of these 2 aura mods would have the higher damage output with Chromatic Blade?

Thank you.

Steel Charge. At max it is a permanent 60% Melee Damage buff as opposed to a chance for a 25% bonus for only 6 Seconds at max. Plus Steel Charge has 9 for the Capacity so you will get an additional 18 more points for modding with matching polarities as opposed to the standard 14 for Growing Power. You'll be able to fit more mods into your build or equip your mods sooner.

Steel charge all the way imo. Conidition overload status build just destroys anything in sight. 100k damage with viral heat build without problems

well if Condition Overload does +360% damage then you are doing 460% total. Adding Steel Charge's 60% on top of it is like 13% extra total damage over having no aura.

Growing power is +25% ability strength so unless you are running extremely high ability strength which I doubt anyone does on Excalibur then percentage-wise that may actually win. But not by much, prolly like 16-17% extra total damage over no aura. (doing math out of my ass)

Also Growing Power gives a cool team buff which is nice.
Steel Charge gives you good damage from the get go before you trigger your first status.

Tho with 3 Umbral Mods and Growing power you seem to cap on the base status chance at 100% so that's I think a bit of a win cause you can use other slots.

So yea, Growing Powah FTW, capacity can be solved with forma

Every time you hit with the sword, Growing Power activates, so it is almost always active ... mod capacity is not a problem

Steel charge ends up giving a higher return. Growing power will only apply when Exhaulted Blade is first cast as well because of how warframe channeled abilities work.

GP applies to other abilities while +60% damage is nothing in total calculation for your melee

Growing Power is more useful to the rest of the team and likely results in higher or similar dps increase. Depends a lot on how you've modded your frame.
And it's sad to see people still not knowing how Growing Power works...

Any channeled ability cast during GP buff will retain the 25% for as long as it's active even if the buff runs out.

Same goes for the Pax Arcane power strength bonus, the efficincy however will only remain while the buff is active.

Except the base damage calculation for Steel charge is 250 x ( 1.81 ) x ( 2.25 + 0.6 ) = 1289 total damage vs Growing Power's base damage calculation of 250 x ( 1.81 + 0.25 ) x ( 2.25 ) = 1159 total damage.

Steel charge ends up with more base damage, which only is further amplified by proper modding.

Basically you use Growing Power if you need to hit the 100% chromatic blade status chance, otherwise use Steel Charge with a mod focus on duration to maximize your damage with chromatic blade

First of all you're assuming everyone has 181% power str. The less str someone has in their build the higher the benefit from Growing Power. You are also assuming that everyone has 225% melee damage, which is pretty strange I must say. With one regular Pressure Point you would end up with 220% and with P Pressure Point you would end up with 265%. 237,5% with Sacrificial mods. With Condition Overload and two status effects on the target you end up with 340%, and it's pretty easy to get 3-4 status effects for 460-580%. I don't know if the Excal's passive affects all of his strikes but that would add another 10%. So your calculations are completely off. The 60% melee dmg given by Steel Charge amounts to almost nothing.

Edit: My own calculations were a bit off also. It was 120% for each CO stack, not 100%. My bad. But what this means is that Steel Charge is even less relevant. :/

If you have enough mod capacity go for Growing power, otherwise Steel Charge...
