Maybe you're talking about putting your piece into a suicidal position, so that you can claim an enclosure? That is not allowed by the rules, as the opponent would be able to immediately do the same, resulting in a endless cycle of suicides.
I can't wait for the day that Warframe will just contain all other games.
You can totally suicide. I did so on accident on my first ever move cause I didn't realize which color was mine in game 1. This move would have won me points and the AI couldn't have gotten points back from it due to it being a locked in corner.
The rule for suicide is that you have to completely encircle all the adjoining enemy pieces, so that the opponent can't just reclaim the territory on their next move. The counter to this is to have numerous spaces in a territory, called "eyes", so that the opponent can't claim all the pieces in one move. If you can only claim a few pieces with a suicide move, it's not allowed.
Since DE doesn't have the time to explain all the rules of a centuries old board game, they just don't let you place pieces in places that would violate the rules.
If you still think you could've won, you'll need to provide a picture or video to show what your board state was.
Also, only the last part of the quest can't be won, all the others are actually able to be won
If I'm not mistaken, Tavier Corsair won all of them

It was in the corner as I stated and already protected... I had a black piece above it, they had no white pieces above, and would have collected theirs to the left of the bottom right corner so they would have had none to the left of it. There is no way they could have reclaimed it in a single move.
Yay for bugs or stealth patches then. How anticlimatic. Talk about a fail typo on my part.
We need a card game that uses our mods. Or maybe just some plain old blackjack and poker.
