I'm not quite sure what to make of this Riven mod. (Veldt Ampi-Ignitron)
So I got my first Riven mod completed today. Got it a while ago from a quest, but the objective was get 8 headshot kills from 100m away.

It ended up being a Veldt Ampi-ignitron, which has these stats at max rank:
18 Drain (Naramon polarity, " - ".)
+38.5% Damage to Corpus
+79.5% Heat damage
+49.7% Ammo Maximum
-113.4% Crit Chance.

Required: Mastery Rank 11.

Is this actually useful? Did I fail spectacularly at Riven lotto?
Because it seems to have bonus damage vs a specific enemy type (not good for general builds), +heat damage (which is okay), +ammo which seems to be maximum ammo capacity not clip size (useless when squad ammo restores exist), and negative one-hundred-and-thirteen percent crit chance (Whyyy?)

I'm only Mastery10 so I can't use the weapon it's designed for yet (and am not yet familiar with how that weapon is meant to operate), so maybe there's a reason it came out like this?
So I guess what I'm trying to find out is - given that this has been my first experience with Riven mods - what should I do with this thing?

Those are pretty terrible stats, frankly. So I'd say: don't do anything to it for now. The Veldt is only an MR 8 weapon, you could try building it and seeing if you like it. If you do like it, you could start trying to reroll the riven to get something more helpful. If you don't like it, not much to do with the riven but sell it. You could try to reroll it into something useful and then sell it, which would earn you more, but uh... Eh. It's always an RNG lottery on rolling, and then a second RNG lottery on finding someone who would pay you a nice amount for it.

What sort of person would buy it?
or more specifically,
If I were the person who bought the thing, what would I be intending to do with it?

Veldt is a bad weapon and that is a bad Riven roll.

If someone bought it, they'd either want it unrolled so that their own roll costs would be cheap as they tried to get some combination of base damage, crit stats, and multishot on it (maybe even status chance would be okay), or looking to buy one that already had those. Elements can be okay but limiting to weapon flexibility, and a lot of stats are just not really helpful or desired on almost any weapon. Like +zoom or ammo maximum.

it has minus (-) on crit chance, so i think it would be best to reroll it, when you can till you roll in to better stats.
better stats would be considered stats such as damage, crit chance, crit damage, multishot and elemental damage types too.
and the minus (-) would be nice to be something that would not hold you back so much in terms of damage.

and in general, veldt is not that good of a weapon to occupy yourself so much with it, in order to slot in a riven mod too.

Veldt is a mediocore semi-auto rifle, suffers from slow rate of fire so it is not really good against mobs as shotgun has same RoF but kills 5 enemies while you need to headshot them....

can probably be good with overkill build, riven with crit chance, crit damage, status chance, put hunter munitions on it and it will.... do the thing, the there are rifles that are way more flexible and useful, like Braton Prime, Baza, Soma Prime

keep the riven, maybe roll it few times, you may get lucky for some broken stats so weapon turns out fine.
It is not a main weapon material

imo it is VERY stupid DE does not allow high rate of fire on semi-auto so we can tap them faster as it works in real life - if it is semi-auto then next bullet is in chamber in around 0.1s

Given that 2/3 of the subsequent comments suggest Veldt isn't worth using:

Would it be worth me saving to combine with 3 other Rivens that fit garbage weapons, for transmuting?

Alternately, could I get a price check: How much should I be aiming to sell this for, if it's going towards someone else wanting to re-roll it themselves?

probably better to transmute.

as for riven prices, you can check wftrader.com adn riven.market and compare prices, general rule is that unrolled rivens are 20-80 platinum, mostly 50, unless it is some ultra new good weapon and some meta thing - those things cost a lot, 200-700 depending on a weapon.
Again, reminder, talking about unrolled rivens only, or random stats

If it were me id reroll it.

Since i like the Veldt. Trying the gun out and then if you dont want it you could trade it for plat.

Id be interested in buying it from you if your not interested if thats what you want to do.

Well, you're wrong. The Veldt is a pretty nice weapon. Having a nice riven only makes it much more comfortable to use.

Semi-auto rifles are in a bad place. They don't have the status potenial of burst and full-auto rifles, and Snipers Rifles do a lot more damage.

Can you use it? Yes. Should you? No.

Yeah and I shouldn't use a Lato in my Sorties and yet I still do sometimes and still top the kill chart

The Veldt is a fine rifle.

Yea, it's fine. But only just fine. It's not great.

There are many, many, better alternatives.

You should turn that riven into endo.
