Recommended Secondaries for Hunting Eidolon Vomalysts?
I’d like to know a few good guns for blowing the shells off the little creeps. Something that works without a Riven, and can handle them in masses.

And no, I don’t want to use spoiler mode to blow the shells off.

Best method by far is the T3 Alt Fire Amp beam thingy. Just hold the button and stare in their general direction and they all die.

Secondary amps or secondary gun? Amps is T3, gun I prefer Euphona Prime. For the Vomvalyst, just use the T3 amps, don't waste ammo for your secondaries to deal with them.

Honestly, what can't blast a Vomvalyst into energy form? They're not threatening at all.

Personally I just use an Amp with a Shwaak Prism, but but if you're dead set against that sort of weapon, just hose them down with an Atomos or Gammacor or something.

I clearly said gun in the post.

What am I going to use my secondary for then? Shooting sticks at a Gauntlyst?

really any will do with some modding, but if you really want to have fun with it, nukor will be your best bet

Used my Euphona Prime when I got downed from time to time when dealing with Hydrolyst. Damage is nice, obviously not as good as sniper. Can take self-damage secondary when using Chroma.

Sicarus Prime works great for Vomvalysts.

I play Trin and Link doesn’t work on Eidolons so. I’ll look into a long range puncture crit secondary then, thanks.
You have to go into spoiler mode to finish off the Vomvalysts anyways, why would you want to avoid it for the first half?

^ This, entirely.
Shwaak Prism is pretty good for the job, I find. They're gonna take 2 hits anyway if you're using a regular gun - so it doesn't matter if they require 2 hits from your Amp. Plus the shotgun blast from Shwaak pierces, so if you are being swarmed by Vomvalysts it'll easily hit a few of them at a time.

Usually for 2 reasons:

- To make it easier to charge the lures when the person carrying them isn't where the Vomvalysts are, or to do it without killing should the lure be moving around. Cracking the shell off them will also interrupt their ability to recharge the shields of the Eidelon. For someone who has the lures and is hanging slightly away, this can also be a way to force Vomvalysts to charge at the lures and immediately be absorbed while the other party members focus on dropping shields.

- If you are using the non-equipment (or chest) spoiler or the first spoiler you get, it becomes more economical to crack the shell with a secondary so that you can more easily kill the core.

It's not optimal, but if you are a lower tier player, it ends up making slightly more sense.
