how zunurik energizing dash work?

stupid question, just unlocked the first level of energizing dash, so void dash will create a energy bubble, i have seen that before, but when i void dash (crtl + jump) , i dont see any bubble, not at the place i landed or where i started my dash, is it only work when there is more than one player around?
