The writing was half-assed at best (let's not even talk about the dialogue itself), and the entire quest felt like a tutorial for fighting ONE enemy type. That being said, it's a crappy tutorial because NOTHING IS EXPLAINED. You have to use trial and error to get through it, which isn't good, bad, or even stupid. It's just AGGRAVATING. A game is not supposed to be aggravating, it's supposed to offer a challenge to overcome. Those are two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. The whole game has shades of this, switching gears from a blood-spattered cakewalk to any one of an annoying mess of a mechanics that deliberately knock you on your ass without warning to add the illusion of difficulty (READ: NULLIFIERS, SENTIENTS, KUVA GUARDIANS).
The Grineer Queens were a major wasted opportunity, as were their Kuva Guardians. Instead of an enigmatic pair of leaders, we got an annoying shrill witch in a stupid hat with an unhealthy obsession with children's bodies, and a monkey-lizard with two lines of atrocious dialog. Their guardians are morbidly obese bulldykes with stupid voices and annoying attacks, who can only be killed with the shoehorned-in mechanic.
The game already has a problem with WAY too many different resources, so adding ANOTHER resource was an absolutely asinine decision. The new mods are just another way for RNG to waste your limited time in life, being restricted to specific weapons and having random stats. Also powercreep, etc. The new weapons are just like every other: more junk to be added to an ever-growing heap that nobody cares about because there are already weapons that to their jobs far better. At this point they could shift to alternate weapon skins/muzzleflashes/projectiles/whatever, and it would probably amount to more interesting content.
The new cosmetics are pretty good (imo obviously), but only because I can put them on the community's excellent Grineer-themed Warframe skins. More of that, please and thank you.
I really like Warframe, and it really has come a long way and gone in a mostly positive direction, but every time I play it I see something that makes me wonder: "WHAT were they THINKING?!"
I enjoy the new system, it adds a new dynamic to warframe, one that i feel will be totally undervalued, underapreciated and underused. I look forward to its expansion, Transedence only sortie missions (scaled appropriately) Transedence loadouts, mods, and weapons.
I like the new tileset, a bit confusing at times but its expanding the universe which is a good thing. I was a bit dissapointed that the hyped ground>archwing combat is greatly underdeveloped. I look forward to its expansion, being able to step off any exterior surface and activate archwing and fly around, more archwing to ground combat ect.
I have not gotten my hands on the new weapons yet, but i look forward to it. My biggest problem so far is the new resource. For the quantities it is required to craft the new items (while they are few atm, this could easily change in the future) it is much too rare. I hope that this comes to DE's attention and they change it or lower the crafting levels. I have no problem with the aquisition, its a unique mechanic, but the spawn rate has faar to much RNG behind it. Over warframes past, resources as they are added increase in rarity/difficulty to obtain, yes. But this pure rng is absolute insantity. Even Nitan is gaurenteed at least once a day.
Endless Fissure missions ,while i have not tried it yet, looks very interesting, and is possibly even better then old key system. But i know it wil lagain, be underused, underapreciated and bashed.
The sortie/invasion rework is still a little bit fuzzy for me, but the way it was presented in patch notes i am very excited about it.
All i nall, it was as usual, a very good update, a great quest and expansion on the universe, weaponry, and mechanics.
I feel like the quest is good, but it was disappointingly short for all the hype. I expected far more than we were shown, and DE really ruined the surprise with Teshin, it should've stayed a secret that he was with the Queens until we found it out on the quest itself. Also the new Operator mode is really just bad at the moment, Steve said they have plans to improve and I really hope they do, it's been months since they promised focus changes and they haven't done it, I hope these changes will mix and improve both focus and operator mode.
I do get that all the previous updates were supposed to come all on War Within at once of course, the amount of content we've been give is good, but the quest itself was disappointingly short in my opinion, but fairly good. DE ruining Teshin's role in it really hurt it for me and probably many other people, they pushed it way too hard even on the teaser, so it had no impact to figure it out. Really hope they stay away from spoiling these things to build hype for future quests.
Also Riven system needs work. It can be stupidly overpowered or straight up useless. You can literally have it make you deal NEGATIVE damage. What's the point?
2)I was hoping that the new tileset / mode would be that too, but i had a feeling from my other forumn convos about such a mode that it wasnt anywhere near on DEs raddar to do something like that. I still hold hope for the future. maybee when Tau comes out.
3)Eh, didnt really have any trouble with it myself, i took to it easily, although alot of people i know/see on forumns didnt. My biggest problem with it is there is restricted areas like evac platforms where you cant use it
Man the game is great it's masterpiece but after you done everything and have everything don't you want something to challenge ur skills , something that you can't spam your way through like the nightmare raid , and they keep ignoring the real end game we just keep collecting new gear for fun but no real use for it
See that is constructive critism, and i agree with all if it (excpet that its Operator mode is bad. needs work, but bad to me is unusable/dont like it, which to me its not.) DE hyped that it took 4 hours just to read the script, when i sat down to do the quest i strapped in for a 6 hour quest. When i looked up from finishing it and saw only 2 1/2 hours had passed i was like, dafaq?
Old queen died, but young one remained, we pretty did nothing but just learned how to get out Tin Suit and hop around to annoying enemies with E hotkey.
Really excited to see DE expand on it, if they do of course, and I highly doubt they'd add something this big and not improve it throughly, then again I thought the same about Focus and they've barely worked on it other than mostly nerfing focus gains. I hope this is the opportunity for them to both improve Focus and the operator mode that they just added now.
I have been asking for some form of endgame for over a year, and proposed multiple ways to do it. I want a dungeon clearing mode similar to SAO's Aincrad so bad it hurts, but i dont rant about it or bash the game over it, i instead enjoy what i have, cross my fingers for the next update and keep constructive idea threads/discussions going. Old t4 survival sort of fulfilled that feeling for me, and is what drove me to work hard for 6 months building my god mode arcane ice tank chroma, but the old void system made me feel very trapped, being REQUIRED to run it every day in the high hopes of eventually gettign what i needed from it to sell/build. When the relic systme hit, it changed all that, and i was elated. I could get what i wanted when i wanted and play whatever i wnated insteado f ONLY t4 void survival.
Good points , well i don't want to rant but like you i keep waiting and waiting.Sao's aincrad aint bad idea but the game already kinda feels like it i mean the further you stay in a mission harder it gets.Unless they do it 10 waves of enemies + unique boss [checkpoint] 10/20>>100 and some unique items to get in there other than prime stuff we all have been faaarming for ages xD we could use the hard farmed primed items to go in there and not feel in endless loop of farm level up trash , the possibilities are endless i just want something to keep me playing this game without pushing myself to do it
