Why is the Mara Detron WORSE than the normal version?

It actually has less damage than the normal version, in return for less recoil, more accuracy, more magazine size, and more fire rate, and an AMAZING (sarcasm) buff to crit chance, at 5% up from 2.5%. IMO It should have significantly higher status chance than the normal version, somewhere around 30%. I feel it should at least be comparable to weapons like Lex prime or Euphona prime.

It's not, its firerate, mag size and low recoil makes up for less damage by being able to be spammed accurately.

falloff is alot better on the mara, so you will be dealing more damage at most ranges.

Its not worse. Mara has an innate Radiation dmg of 210, the original Detron doesnt have an element dmg type. If you really look at the upgrades of the Mara from the original Detron, Mara is definately the better of the two.

I'd like to point out that both Mara and normal Detron calculate damage per pellet, and show it as combined. If you split this damage across all pellets and look at the numbers in the field - they are actually not that much different. Mara Detron is also much more precise and can be used even at distances, at which normal Detron becomes completely ineffective.

In close combat, though, normal unmodified Detron will outdamage Mara. I was a bit confused by their seemingly vast difference, but after field testing both for quite some time I came to conclusion that they are really sidegrades to each other and don't make each other obsolete.


Now, if only my Brakk would receive a bit of a bigger buff. Right now it is as is completely outshined by Pyrana.

Uh... No, the normal Detron is definitely also a radiation weapon.

At any rate, it was certainly a kind of weird decision for them to make. The Mara IS better on most stats, and despite the pretty stark difference in base damage, supposedly suffers a lot less from fall-off in both affected distance and minimum damage. It's still probably better performing generally thanks to effective distance and firing rate, though less ammo efficient at closer ranges.

I stand corrected. I ditched the Detron as soon as I got it maxed so I didnt even recall it having Radiation.

Still, I find the Mara more fun and an overall upgrade, despite the slight dip in dmg.

It doesn't. It's merely become the victim of power creep. Euphona Prime is almost a direct upgrade to Lex Prime, and Akstiletto Prime outshines almost everything else by being one of the highest-DPS secondaries around at the moment. But neither of those make Lex P an inherently bad weapon, and it still packs quite a punch.
