I do recommend aiming for the head in general with the baza. It's got the accuracy to do that pretty well.

Elemental damage has literally nothing to do with status chance. You can have a weapon with high status and only physical damage, a weapon with low status chance and only elemental damage, neither, or both.
Assuming I understand correctly and it all still works this way, elemental damage mods are good because they stack multiplicatively with damage mods, while adding more damage mods is additive. Let's look at what swapping just your augur pact will do. For ease, your weapon's base damage is 100 total. Your hornet strike is 220%, your augur pact is 90%, they both increase base damage so they are added together for a 310% increase, for 410 damage total. If you replace Augur Pact with say Convulsion, which is 90% electricity, you get your hornet strike for +220% giving you 320 physical damage, then 90% of that is added as elemental damage, being 288 electricity damage, for a total of 608 damage. With one mod swap you get an almost 50% damage increase. Considering this new higher damage is then multiplied again by your multishot and crit, your dps increase is quite a bit.
Replacing your two mediocre crit mods with elemental damage will likely increase your dps even more, especially because you can tailor the damage to what you are facing to take advantage of elemental weaknesses.
2) there are stupid OP weapons out there, just use a silent mod and you are done.

but yeah, baza is good only on mid level content, basically getting braton with a crazy riven migh be a better option tbh
