Thoughts on Nightwave?
I just wanna hear yall's opinions on how it looks right now and how it'll do in the long run.

Personally, I love all of it to bits, at least from what we just got. <3

Agree with No1Eye this system made the game go from farming it when you want to an actual job. It's just like WoW's rep farming crap in beta for azeroth. I stopped paying for that game because they turned it into a mindless rng farm fest.

When a game starts to look like work rather than just be fun I bail. Having sunk in a few hundred dollars if they don't bring back the old alert system I will stop paying and playing altogether.

The fact these rewards also "rotate" in season and we loose our progression/Wolf Creds kind of make it all pointless considering they said it was so people don't miss out. I bet you getting stuff like Nitian will become a real chore and instead of being a quick 5 minute mission at most will probably require the player to grind a mission 4/5times to get the required credits same with the mods. Stuff we could get in 2minutes when on alert will no be a chore.

They rarely design games for fun anymore its normally to get us into spending money.

I do hope I am wrong though and its nice we will be able to earn slots and catalysts that is the only positive I am seeing at the moment but I also fear that will require a few days grinding to achieve.
Another great point that I think DE didn't really think about or they just do not care (most likely the ladder since it's very well know that most DE employees do not actually play the game). What happens to the items that you can not farm and only showed up on alerts? This system does not seem very well thought out. The fact that you do not keep your "progression" and loose all of it speaks to that pretty highly. This is just more needless grinding, sure SOME of the objectives just require you to play the game or kill a particular faction but many others are not. DE should have known this, 8 years in development and we still get stuff where they clearly did not play test this in house to see if it really worked.

My thoughts are simple. Rewards are mostly filler so that good rewards are put way in the back end of the list. Wolf coins are too sparse. The daily/weekly and elite weekly require group play (which I don't do) And some to play with friends and none of my friends like to grind for months for ♥♥♥♥ loot.

There is, once again, a strong inclination towards group play and leave solo players behind. I don't care about other people. I don't care about eidolons or any bounties and open world area. I'm sick of farming reputation and standing for factions I don't even like or care about when you feel like a slave.

This alert system could have been a nice weekly quest sequence that would last a week and repeat next week. Instead it's a badly designed system penalizing solo play and requiring a reputation grind while forcing you to play specific things in the game that you don't want to do (i.e Eidolons or sortie).

A miss with potential if not for the grind ... That this game seems to be made of .. And built on.

The only issue i can see so far is the way the credits are collected.
I wish that part of the store allowed the use of rep rather than credits because they feel really limiting. They have replaced an unpredictable casual system with a hard core grind.

I love having another way to earn stuff- especially since it's in parallel to doing normal stuff. Knocked out about 8k worth of reputation with this new group just doing a few missions like usual. Having Weapon/Armor Slots, Umbra Formas, NITAIN EXTRACT.... having an alternate way to get certain goodies that were/are rather hard to get is great. I think stuff like this, which really doesn't require new levels/enemies/etc to be built is a GREAT way to add to the game's longevity.

So far it's allright. The only odd one out is "complete sorties with friends" - forced coop can ♥♥♥♥ right off. 5 ayatans is also a bit stretching it. Otherwise - nothing horrible.
Mooman 2019 年 2 月 27 日 下午 3:32
I like the idea that rng is taken away from most things so there is a clearer effort vs reward structure.

However it just forces you to do the same tired game modes over and over, adds nothing new to the Warframe experience.

And like most Warframe stuff seems to be missing a narrative. Like the escaped prisoners you can encounter in missions. You capture them but the goal says you eliminate them, for who or why? At least let me choose to help or hinder them.

At this point I'm kinda 'meh' about it and to some degree even less excited about any future 'content'.

it's not an "alternate" way to get those "goodies that were / are hard to get".

It's a REPLACEMENT way to get those goodies that will now be MORE hard to get.

Unless they add some additional method to get wolf creds, 300 per entire "season" is not enough when you compare it to being able to get ALL of the items in the wolf cred store from independent alerts before.

For instance, if the "season" lasts say, 2 months, people should be able to get most of the progression stuff if they're dedicated. So 300 wolf creds... how much would you be able to get from the wolf cred store?

2 months of random alerts could get you at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the helmets and probably 4 potatoes and 10-20 mitain extracts if you're paying attention.

Well hotfix came out after this but I dont like 2 things I found so far, 1. It is a weekly, 2. Earth Bounty Hunter, really if i do a 3 stage or a 5 stage it still counts as one complete, then what is diffrence besides faster

I'm not sold on the new system yet and there are a few reasons for that.

With the old alert system I always felt this sense of progression, advancement, or that something new was happening even if it was just a simple exterminate or capture mission. There was always a small thrill hearing "Tenno. A new alert has begun." Even if I was already in a mission that little popup just gave me a sense of "better check that when I get back." I enjoyed doing alerts even if I didn't need what was being offered. It was nice, very bite size content that you could ignore or indulge in at your leisure. I can't tell you how many times I would be getting ready to log out and see an alert that kept me playing just a bit longer.

This new system though, the second I clicked on it and saw what it had do you know what came to mind?

"Great, yet another faction to grind standing in as if we don't already do that everywhere else."

It feels like a chore or checklist now and the organic feel of the alert system is gone. It was depressing to log in and not see any of the old alerts up. Now instead of doing missions as bite size content it feels more like a slog, and an inconsistent one at that. 3 capture missions? Fine, that's like 5 minute missions each. 9 invasions? Seriously? And some of these are just stupid. Complete a sortie with a friend or clanmate? Why does that matter? Just have the task as completing the sortie. There's no reason to screw over all solo players or people with fairly inactive clans.

Really good, though could use some adjustments.
IMHO, I think they should add Umbra Forma to the marketplace as well as bundles. Also make the Umbral formas in the Nightwave a bundle

This is a great Idea. However thinking from the Dev's point of view, I believe it is in the Wolf of Saturn list, as maybe they can lock it, so those whom have not completed The Sacrifice will not be using it, then complain they have no umbra mods for it. Then again, as I just completed that quest and have the warfare from it, I do not see where all the hype is for the umbra mods, perhaps that comes after I dump endo into them.

I have mixed feelings over it. On a Aesthetic scale: From menu, to alerts, to mission challenges to voice acting, it is fantastic. Now the small con to it, is that I would love to see something similar to the other notifications (top right) as it looks a little lop sided, however that could be a small case of OCD, and others may like the two different views.

From a mission challenge view point, I was a bit hesitant as I seen regional chat was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about things like Nora had a different voice, to how (and a quote) "this was DE forcing Solo players to join clans / play in squads" (more on this soon), Which was re-enforced as, when I did the activation for WOS, it putt me on the Kuva Fortress Tile set. Side note: As I just got him, Umbra Excalibur is a blast to play there with exulted blade, but I digress.

As I just stated about region chat, I am not sure where they are getting their information, or even tried WOS, as my first challenge was to put down a glyph. Now it is kill 500 enemies and go through 9 invasions. Which with challenges like this, a solo player is already playing and can achieve them in no time, and there is really nothing you need to go out of your way for.

Now my mixed feelings on this, comes from the fact that I am trying to level up frames like Oberon and Mirage purely for those sweet, sweet Master Rank points, and not having that point boost is a bit of a pain in the .......ordis. but Like I said, overall, it is awesome :D

It would be really nice if they kept the alerts instead of replacing them. now it feels like i'm just gonna grind more.
Farrel 2019 年 2 月 27 日 下午 3:57
Not bad so far, although I can't help the feeling that nitain is going to be horrible to get for newer players now.

"Complete a Sorties with Friends OR Clanmates"
^
i'm not sure about this one
Invicta 2019 年 2 月 27 日 下午 4:27
honestly I think adding maybe 1-5 wolf coins per challenge completed would be smart, that way you can earn plenty for what you need without a super huge amount of grinding.
