Heck when I get it I am going to have a hard time to decide if I want to use it on a weapon or frame. Have to see how melee gets changed first though.
It isn't the end of the world having more options... I kind of figure once we get to MR30 they will move on to MR40 and even add mod slots to weapons and warframes.
Otherwise the capacity is just a waste.
I think people are salty because they spent forma in shorting the polarity of everything to put 2 umbra mods on their warframe, and now there is an easy way to slap 1.
so people are mad because umbral forma is powercreep
but
does this mean Primed Mods are powercreep? are Prime Frames powercreep too? what about Prisma/Wraith weapons? I don't see an outrage over those.
All this "powercreep" stuff starts to feel like a hardcore stretch of an excuse TBH.
Actually yes, primed mods are powercreep. They do the same thing as their normal mods, but better, and become a staple or normal requirement for builds at some point. When primed mods first came out they were 'Ooh shiny" now it's the norm to have them in any build. Primed continuity ? You bet. Primed target cracker or pistol gambit? Yup those too.
Very odd to be getting this question over and over again. Considering warframe has been on this road awhile I assume many are used to it by now, but that isn't something good to be used to. If anything it shows the potential that is to come in terms of powercreep. Bosses supposed to be hard and challenging? Nope not for us, the only thing that is called a 'boss' now is something that has invincibility cycles, like profit taker or eidolons.
The more powerful players get, the more limited developers are in giving different ways to overcome obstacles, because of how powerful we are we can just blow through things.
So DE is left with a handful of ways to make enemies harder currently.
Give them more health/armor. (general enemy scaling past level 120 when you hit a wall).
Give them more damage/enemies. (general enemy scaling)
Give them invincibility and time-frame vulnerability (eidolons, profit-taker etc)
Whereas if we weren't AS overpowered as we are, then they have more wiggle room.
AI could adapt and improvise, be smarter and attack us differently.
Because we can't clear a map with one button, now we might need to coordinate and be smarter. Possibly even use other abilities besides Saryn 4, mesa 4 etc.
Now that we have to coordinate utility weapons like penta tether grenades, ogris napalm etc actually become useful instead of niche.
Warframe has great potential - but it is greatly wasted with powercreep. Powercreep focuses only on raw numbers "mine are bigger than yours so you die now", instead of rewarding players for thinking smart and overcoming something, we just get a gold star because anyone can do it.
I did just two builds around umbral forma, just because chroma and mesa required it. In real life if a person makes a dumb investment move and looses, who is to blame? And building all or even majority of your frames around umbral mods is stupidity at its finest. Especially taking into account long history of this game with all of its changes, nerfs and buffs. Nothing stays the same for more than a year here. Umbral forma was coming long before it was ”datamined”, no matter who and what promised.
Finally, noone forces anyone to min/max in game, we do it on our own, just using what devs gave us. So stop blaming others when it is very you to be blamed.
Mm I used to play D3, but the powercreep is counter-balanced by all the difficulty tiers the game offers. I certainly wouldn't be sticking to lower tiers for easy kills if I could be increasing my rarity chances by going to higher difficulties that match my current DMG output. Yes its ludicrous but people love that ridiculous DMG output and min/maxing their characters/builds/gear. That's the ARPG way of life.
