Don't feel you need to measure every word someone says. Not interested in an interpreter.
I primarily use melee, but I do at times use ranged weapons. Mostly bows. And if between shots I want to snap out a quick melee jab with E that options no longer there.
I'd probably be fine with most of the update if I could remap Aim & Melee Channel to my right mouse button. But I'd still want the quick slash melee back. It's a handy tool removed for no real gain.
This isn't just getting used to the changes. Combat's not as fun. The update does seem to benefit those that were more firearm oriented.
I did have to put channel on my middle mouse.. really think they should have done that by default instead of leaving it LMB
I just do not see how one wins over the other here if everything is smoother, you can still use melee only and firearm only, but with this update using your entire loadout is just way smoother and more accessible.
As for fun and not fun, I do not see the argument unless only combat you found fun was quick melee lawn mower style, then game is no longer fun for you.
And if pressing different buttons is not fun for you then I have a news for you..... get used to it and then talk, you have been using it for barely few minutes compared to how much you have been using it differently - of course you will suck with it.
This is not about your lawnmower "E" combat.
Combat is watered down and half-assed now. Clearly the changes are to your liking.
I'm glad you enjoy the new changes. I'm just asking for the ability to use the older style.
And I'm pretty sure many others do. If all I did was pull a trigger, i'd be happy too.
>didn't affect the actual playstyles, just made it more streamlined and enjoyable
>"unplayable"

The ability to switch from melee to firearms faster? Quick melee attack already did that. In some cases, especially the pole arm stances, the quick melee attacks were better.
While infrequent, the auto block animation breaking a melee attack is very annoying, because it takes away control from the player.
Having to switch to 'melee mode' by doing a melee attack instead of just changing to the melee weapon is faster, but counterintuitive. After years of gaming and years of Warframe, the muscle memory is hard to break for what benefit? Maybe a half second faster switch into 'melee mode'?
Switching back to guns is also annoying now. If I'm in 'melee mode' and hit my gun button again, it does switch back to guns, but also switches the gun to secondary if previously in primary and vice versa. Now I have to hit 'aim' or 'fire' to switch to the gun I was previously using. Again, counterintuitive and not ideal, especially if using something like a sniper, where firing will surely miss the target, alert them, which maybe I don't want to do, which forces me to use the 'aim' button then, which breaks movement flow.
The control that has been sacrificed for maybe a half second faster change into 'melee mode' I don't see as worth it.
You.... are.... 37?
heheheh.....heheheheheheheh........ heh...
Personally i really enjoy the changes since they vastly improved combat by merging melee and firearms. I mean, just check this out https://twitter.com/MuraCasardis/status/1103882746491858945
To be fair it's not perfect. My biggest issue is switching to guns while gliding. Also, having only your melee equipped and holding right mouse button tends to leave you in blocking animation until you press E. Then again this is melee 2.99999, so it's not final.
So how does that make me happier if I do not use melee? Like I haven't used melee a lot in like 2-3 months in order to make my self transition better and enter the new melee system with clear head and I am enjoying melee way more than I used to.
And special thing is that my tactics have improved - when I clear nearby enemies with a melee and there is a distant group - I just click my mouse and I can clear them up fast, same goes for vice versa when I get flanked, just click E and I am ready to combo my way trough them.
So I really struggle to see your point, how is this fast switching encouraging you to only use firearms? I would really love to know as it really defies common sense, all melee combos are the same, switching is faster and combat is way more fluent, the more I get used to it the more fluent it is.
So please, I would like to know why do you want older style, you keep saying game encourages firearms but that makes 0 sense unless your approach is lacking something or you flat out failed to realize that now it takes 0.1 seconds to switch from your firearm to melee as opposed to like 1s that was still not fully ready and was still quick melee up until the point when warframe settles weapon down in a default position.
You could see that with Zenistar, it was not possible to hold F to change weapon and instantly press E and hold it for a charge, it would ALWAYS swing a quick melee even tho you held F and even your UI said you have it out but unless you let your warframe settle a melee in default position it is still s quick melee and worst part about it is that when you do click it too fast - you have to wait for your warframe swing that hit, to holster the weapon back and then take it out again to settle in default holding stance. All while UI says you have your melee out.
I died few times due to that because once you get into that loop you cannot do ♥♥♥♥, if you click your E 1ms before your warframe settles in default stance you trigger quick melee again and you have to wait trough all that loop again. Which was beyond retarded.
This update fixes that, you can INSTANTLY use melee at any given time, so that benefits firearms how exactly? at least give me a scenario that supports your claim.
I understand problem above may be "first world's problem" that I am clicking way too fast, because I play warframe for so long and my muscle memory kicks in and on top of that I already play a guitar for 15 years so it is pretty objective to claim that speed of my fingers is way above average, that especially for my left hand which is on the keyboard and you may have NEVER experienced this.
It was the most frustrating thing in this game for me as I use combos, when I held F to have my melee out I instantly went into combo I wanted because different combos are for different scenarios, some are proximity based, others cover more distance etc and when I still get that quick melee I hated everything.
