A focus school for Nekros

I have had focus and the operator for a bit, but rarely use it due to it just sounding weird. Im trying to get into it because I want arcanes for more power and to solve a couple of problems I keep having. What focus school would best compliment Nekros? I got focus before despoil so I picked Zenurik, but I don't need the energy any more. What school would best compliment Nekros. Im running a hybrid despoil/shield of shadows build that focuses more on survival.

Naramon is good if you find yourself using mostly melee. Otherwise, Vazarin is probably the best choice, just to stack on the survivability.

I have notice that if your running despoil and equilibrium you can get pretty much unlimited energy for channeling. I find that I have two issues. Certain enemies take a bit to kill and I usually go down pretty quickly to strong attacks.

Well first of all, before you focus on Focus (no pun intended), if you want more survivability for your Nekros, I highly recommend picking up the Shield of Shadows augment. It's very powerful and definitely makes him as tanky as some of the "true" tank frames like Inaros or Nidus, provided you have enough power strength.

Im running both shields of shadow and despoil. I do not have any prime or umbral mods so 130% power strength is all I can muster. My current build only has duration to boost terrify and shadows so they last a little longer. I can handle most things ok because of how the shadows scale. As long as I can kill it Im fine. Can never seem to get the hang of armor stripping. The shadows suck against armor. I usually end up killing the enemy before I remove the armor.

You are going to want Health Conversion on Nekros. Despoil has amazing synergy with HC and is, IMO a must for a Despoil build.

Edit: For reference, this is the build I run on my Nekros and it does just fine up until enemies start hitting lvl 200+.

I have the despoil, health conversion, equilibrium combo. I just don't do very well against boss like enemies like Bursa. Things that can hit really hard. As long as I am keeping 2 and 4 active things go well enough. I would like more power strength personally but I do not have the mods for it. I held my own in round 8 of ESO. was standing in the middle of the battle field perfectly safe. Lost because I can't kill fast enough to keep efficiency high by myself and the rest of the squad left.

Just keep running Orokin Vaults until you get the corrupted mods Blind Rage and Transient Fortitude. Those will cover most of your power strength needs on a majority of frames in some combination.

well don't rely mainly on shadows as dps.. build some decent weapons. and as for eso, it is aoe dps frames playground. with nekros you pretty much need some one hit melee with decent range, cause shadows obviously won't be able to keep efficiency.

The shadows scale well against everything but armor. That said they are not for dps like you said. They spread their damage out too much. They are a crowd control tool. Nekros is a control frame more than he is a farming frame. He can do both, but three of his abilities are debuff and CC. For weapons I have a hopped up Khom, a lex prime and a atterax. My general problem is armor though. Even with corrosive projection, terrify and a corrosive Khom I still can't strip armor. Normally I kill the target before the armor is gone which Im fairly sure is a good thing. Nekros like most CC frames shine when the damage frames can't kill enemies fast enough.

You want power strength on Nekros though. Not for dps, but to get more damage reduction from Shield of Shadows.

As for weapons, I've been using amprex with hunter munitions recently and that does 99% of the work for me. I tend to solo most of my survivals/defenses/excavations/kuva survival with nekros and an amprex and other than a possible early death before I can get shadows/health conversion armor, never die and can kill for ages.

All that said, perhaps post screencaps of your mod loadouts so we can see if there is any dead weight that can be removed and swapped out for more useful things?

I can do that. The problem however is I have no better mods. Im stuck with the basic stuff. No prime, umbral or riven mods at all. They all cost a lot of plat and the game has not been kind to me in that regard.

I mean, look at my Nekros build. I have one Primed mod on it, and a regular Continuity will do just fine in place of the primed version. I feel like we might be having a disconnect somewhere in regards to corrupted mods. Those come from Orokin Derelict vaults an are pretty easy to farm by just finding a vault hunting group in Recruiting chat. Of course, you will need the Dragon Key blueprints from a dojo first, but those are cheap both to acquire, and build. Just make sure you coordinate with your squad on who is bringing which key, and equip it in your gear wheel.

For primed mods, they aren't required for a function build, they just further optimize an already working build. They are also sold by Baro every other week, so you just need to stock up on dukats and credits between his visits and hope he has what you need. Umbra mods are a quest reward, so the only way you will get those is doing the respective quest.

As for rivens, those are a trap IMO. Almost any weapon can be viable without a riven, with a few exceptions that even rivens won't help because machete and kraken are terrible no matter what.

I'll let someone who actually uses melee comment on if that atterax build is decent or not. Obviously you aren't done with your Lex build so I won't bother with that. For the Kohm, drop Shotgun Savvy, and pick up the dual stat Toxin mods from Corrupted Vor in T4 void mission ASAP.. That will boost both your damage and status chance. For the Nekrso build, drop Flow, and put some range on that boi. Stretch, being the first choice. You have a decent baseline build all around IMO, but I do see room for improvement.

Don't worry, though. You will get there in time!

If you want some in game help, feel free to add me and I can assist with attempting to get some of the mods you seem to be missing. I might even have a few spare corrupted mods laying around, lord knows I have piles of the dual stat toxin mods from the old Void Key days.

I rarely use the atterax. It mainly exists to help me save on ammo. The khom can guzzle it down, even with desecrate and a carrier. I have the weapon corrupt mods, but the only one I have for warframes is narrow minded. I'll try the range. I feel a little less safe now that I have swapped out my shields for power strength. There is always that period in the begining of a mission where you have no shadows and that feels dicey now.

I have all the keys I just don't have anyone to do the vault runs with. Need to do it for night wave anyways. I don't really know what else to put on my lex prime. Its kind of just a stand in. I have not found a secondary or melee I like yet.
