Fishing hotspots pls help.
I'm trying to find fishing hotspots in the ocean to use my bait and get specific fish. Just want to know a few things if anyone has answers, wiki is not really specific. Do i have to have my fishing spear out to see the hot spots? Can i fly around with my archwing to try find them? Are they something that only spawns after waiting? What is the best way to find them?

Fishing hotspots Are already spawned in when you first enter the plains, you dont need the fishing spear out to see the hotspots, You can use archwing to indeed find them but i'd do some hovering around the area so you can see the hotspots better.
the hotspots can disappear after a certain number of fish are caught from the area, But you can easily find a new hotspot

Hotspots in the plains look like huge round bubbles.

Hotspots in the Orb Vallis look like a aurora borealis on the water.

Sometimes the Fish may take a second or so to appear in the hotspot after you put the bait/dye in the water.

If you have the ability to use an archwing launcher, the hotspots are -much- easier to spot from the air... They'll look like patches of water with white circles appearing in them... (In the plains at least)

They last a few minutes, despawn and then respawn, generally in a nearby area.

But yeah, find 'em from the air, much easier.

If you can get an oxylus, that has a mod which will mark fishing spots on the map for you.

Edit: but by the time you get an oxylus, you probably won't need it to spot the fishing areas...

I've been fishing for like 4 hours in plains over the last 2 days and im yet to see one hot spot, a good hour of that fishing is flying closly and slowly over the entire lake and all the ocean shore.

Sounds like you might be too low or too high to make 'em easy to spot... One moment, lemme see if I can get you a screenshot of what you're looking for.

Just a little above and to the left of my crosshair. On a screenshot, barely visible, but in game, you'll see it's animated.

I’ve seen pics on the wiki, watched videos, I know exactly what I’m looking for and I’ve tried every kind of looking extensively, I must just be the unluckiest man alive or DE is pranking me.

The wiki says I can’t activate my baits unless they are placed in a hot spot, but I’ve been just throwing down bait and getting a few of that fish and that strategy has been doing me fine.

Okay, well, you don't have to hit the hotspot directly, just be within a good few meters of them (some spawn further from the shore than you can throw bait)

They are out there... Just fly slow, at not-too-high altitude and hover once in a while... You'll see 'em.

Failing that, flag me down in game sometime and I'll come fish with ya, we'll find 'em. (username in game is 'Sharpears')

If all else fails, max out your Solaris standing and grab an oxylus... He's the fisherman's best friend.

Edit: Incidentally, this area just here... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1652556409 very regularly has at least one spot active at a time (you can see three here)... It's on the east side of the map.

Update guys... So i got some people to come fishing with me and waypoint on top of the hotspots, i then screen shot the waypoint and sent it to them to see if im just blind, but my client just isnt showing hotspots. Like, It is not possible for me to see hotspots. ;(, sending in a ticket. Already tried verifying gamefiles.

You made this thread before, I thought people gave you good advice then.

If it is a bug, I hope it's fixed. But also, remember that hotspots are not visually synced between clients and host. It does, however, let bait work effectively for all players as long as one of them is seeing a hotspot and using it properly

I've seen on videos and been told that hotspots are synced between all the players in the mission, meaning if my friend waypoints ontop of one i should be able to see it.

ok wikia is clear about most only maybe the fact about your question if you have to hold the spear.

if you cant see hot spots maybe you have something turned of in your video settings.

what spear to use and where are on the wikia no need to copy paste it here.

day and night / warm and cold cycle for fortuna are also there.

and indeed hot spots etc same like wisps are synced between players in the grp.
you can share bait if you like.

hop it helps

I got a response from DE and it was something in the settings, basically depending on what graphics card you have, it interprets what changing specific things in the display settings actually do. Essentiallly I had the visuals for the hotspots turned off completely, I never found out what it was exactly I just had to toggle every optional thing to on. With most graphics card, the setting adjustments would only change how the hotspot appears, but with mine the gtx 1050 and I think one other card, toggling that option to off can actually turn off the visual completely ( not for everyone ).

The guy specified it’s a bug, it is player fixable tho, thank god.
