Sentinel, Kubrow or Kavat?

Newish player who does not really know much about these things: Which of those three is the best option, in general? And of each, which is the best one, in general?

Only sentinels. Unless your run a kuva survival, then smeeta.

imo depends on how much resourses and time you have to put into them.

if you have the time and the forma and the maxed mods then go for kubro/kavat/helmith charger
but if you just want this as a small side thing that has a small bonus then go for any sentinal, there not much risk if it dies during a mission and it does not need to be sustained.


kavats don't need as much forma as kubro, but they are also not as tanky so while they tend to be more evasive they are likely to go down in a firestrom.

i have pretty much all the sentials and pets and i can say i have 3 main faves.

fully modded i have seem both take out a lvl 80 mob in one shot [if not higher, pretty sure they can take care of lvl 100 mobs too]

Huras kubro - stealth range is solid and my go to pet for sortie missions. pretty much you can get stelth on a tank frame and revive team mates while invisible. you can pick one of your speed frames and do spy missions or rescue the hostage at break neck speeds.
pretty much super useful for most sorties.

helmith charger- looks cool, does a ton of dammage and has a cool grappling attack. overall hes pretty tanky and is fun to have out and about with me on missions where i do not need stelth.


the smevata kavat easily comes in 3rd with its 'roll the dice' buffs. it generally stays out of harms way so they don't go down too often.

Sentinels are vastly superior in (almost) every way for their vacuum ability, their healing beam and instant full shield restoration. They also have moderate firepower and have other functions such as Codex Scanning enemies or stunlocking them.

All biological pets like Kubrows and Kavats are pointless with the singular exception of the Smeeta Kavat, for the occasional x2 loot buff (similar to a resource booster). You pick up 1 Argon Crystal while the buff is active, it becomes 2, etc.

Use a Sentinel for everything. Ideally the Helios, at least until you have your Codex finished.

Use a Smeeta Kavat for Void Fissure / Relic runs for x2 void traces. Often you can hold off picking up the last 9/10 Reactant until the last moment for the buff to appear.

In general,Sentinel because of vacuum. Also, if it dies it won't lose respect or standing or whatever it is called that pets have. As far as best type most people generally like carrier for the ammo capacity increase and ammo conversion or helios for the casual scanning of everything. Every once in awhile someone might use shade for the casual invisibility.

Im gonna give you simplest possible answer....

Get carrier (sentinel).

Sentinels are superior in the overwhelming majority of scenarios. simply because of Vacuum . That being said pets have some neat fashion farmes, and have some uses. Crit Kavat for Eidolon Hunting, or Luck Kavat for some targeted farming - such as Mutagen Samples.

Kubrows are subpar in general, but then again a Sahasa's ability to dig up energy from thin air can help. Huras for the stealth is halfway decent. None of this is worth the loss of Vacuum though. Ever since I am crawling in enough resources to not worry about picking them up, I've been using pets just for the heck of it. Until that day comes for you, recommend sticking with Sentinels, and have both Kavat types on standby for when needed.
