What is energy color?
hi, some skills/augments like excaliburs chromatic blade have a feature where they change based on energy color, what does it mean? is it something that happens to my warframe based on story mission decisions or is it something that i can chose in the appearence tab of the arsenal?

so the emissive color is the energy color?
For Chromatic Blade, for Chroma's moveset, and for determining Equinox's form at the start of a mission, yes, the first emissive color slot is what's used when those things talk about "energy color". The terminology written on that augment is a bit older than the separate emissive coloring we now have.

Either way, when it's relevant, you will see the elemental effect (or Day/Night icon for Equinox) that matches the color you chose. Blues activate Electricity, whites activate Cold, reds activate Heat, and greens activate Toxin. For Equinox, dark colors start her off in Night form, lighter colors start her in Day form.

For the augment mod, yes.

Sounds like they have not changed the description. It used to be ENERGY color that determined element damage for Chromatic Blade mod but the effect was moved into Emmision color. Same with Chroma's element damage on abilities and Equinox Day and Night-forms.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

emissive = color on the object
energy = color of the attacks

To be a little more clear;

Emissive is the color of lights on the object.

Energy is the color of the effects (Warframe powers, weapons effects, etc), and also controls the color of some special parts on objects (Ivara's transparent skirt, etc).
