Why the hell are ephemeras so expensive?

I recently did a lucky and got 2 liches with ephemeras in a row, one of my friends wanted one of them due to a current bug with mirage+shock ephemera (Activates her damage buff when in darkness). I looked on trade chat and people are selling ephemeras for 100-200 plat, what the hell lmao. I quickly sold my toxin ephemera for 120plat.

Shell shock (the shotgun 60-60 mod) is only 50 plat despite being twice as rare. whaT?

It also takes a lot less time to do a run for Shell Shock. A Hive mission with all caches takes maybe 10 mins. Whereas cycling a Lich will take hours at least, I'd assume (I've not exactly been rushing through mine).

Shouldn't it be cheaper then? Because you're basically paying someone to give you work to do something.

You're paying someone to take away the RNG. It saves them having to cycle, potentially many of, their own Liches hoping to get one with the desired trait.

Because they are the one cosmetic type not sold on the Market and until now there has been very little variety in the ones normally obtainable. The demand is very high, lots of people with plat to throw around want to get them, so the prices are very high. The price will probably drop off significantly over a few months.

Shell Shock on the other hand has been in the game for 5 years, most long time players probably have it, there's not a lot of demand.

keep in mind that was the toxin ephemera which is the cheaper of the bunch.

When was the last time you noticed somebody with one of these on? I struggle to see my own. Why would somebody pay up to 200 platinum just to look a bit fuzzy around the edges, especially when nobody else sees it or cares?

I made 300p off my Shockwave ephemera lich. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Most people don't want to take the chance of rolling multiple liches with trash (looking at you, impact) bonus damage types.
