2 - Up to 10 Thralls can appear in a mission, however a Lich can enthrall 10 more. Meaning the maximum possible Thralls you can get in a mission is 20.

5 - When you complete a circle, killing another Thrall will begin progress on the next one.
6 - Yes, this is what many call Murmur farming. You should be able to find people looking to do this in the recruiting channel.
7 - No, but it can make them appear faster, as you will be killing more enemies faster.
8 - Most enemies can be mercy finished currently, they do not count. The only enemies that will give you Murmurs are Thralls and Liches.
9 - A normal enemy will only suddenly become a Thrall if a Lich is nearby to enthrall them. There's no real way to force it, but if you don't kill enemies near a Lich, the Lich should convert them eventually.
