They're fun. They're fine.

The Sarpa can be used to completely strip armor away from enemies but the Reedemer is ironcially, unredeemable.

At low to medium levels...and probably higher, too...if moded correctly), the 'Redeemer' is so much fun/good.
But then you start finding better melee weapons, so you might end up as me, and stop using it.

But at least the 'Redeemer' is fun AF to use...and very effective..

Thje other one (don't remember the name), wasn't as fun... But then again, it's a matter of personal preference, I guess.. :)

they are good for knocking enemies down & looking badass
if you want to actually kill them they are not so good

Redeemer can also strip armor as every pellet from a gunblade does inate impact damage due to being a shotgun. The difference between the two is that redeemer has a singular spray instead of a burst of shots like the sarpa.

The other technical advantage of the redeemer is that it will ragdoll most enemies when fired at close range, making them vulnerable to finishers. This means that starts to be more useful against grineer at high levels since you can not only strip armor from bombards and such, but also knock them down to be killed easier. This is good to have when you are generally focused on gunplay instead of melee attacks as you can still do charged attacks as a quick attack, making it more of a utility weapon.

Status Sarpa with Condition Overload can hit insanely hard and even harder if you have a riven for it.

They are bad, they are poorly designed because you need to hold for too long to shot once, they are more meme than function, which is sad because the concept is very interesting.

You are going to say "wow I could've done 10 times more with a couple of swings with an actual melee".

It's all about personal preference..
But they ARE slow...but when one learn how to use/mod them, they are fun...
BUT..there are better melee-weapons.

The reedemer can't strip armor with it's shotgun fire. Shattering impact needs any amount of impact damage to work, reedemer's gun fire doesn't have any (I know, you'll see impact procs once in a while, doesn't do actual impact damage; except for melee).

Of course, I never would disagree with that. But calling anything that isn't a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, spin to win crit monster that will one hit kill anything within level 150 "bad, poorly designed" is stupid. Gunblades may not be the meta, the absolute best, but they're fine. They're good, they can be fun, and that's what matters.

back when they were silent and wouldn't break your cloak, I used to one shot molecular primed sortie level enemies with ivara and my redeemer.
wish i could have a redeemer in each hand.... would pay for that.
