I bred a Helmith Charger instead of a Kubrow, and now I can't complete the Kubrow breeding quest

I was infected with the pink neck virus, and read that I could breed an alternate pet instead of the Kubrow, so I did.
My charger hatched and finished, and now that she's done, my quest still isn't complete. So I decided to put her in stasis and breed a Kubrow...and I can't.

It requires another incubator power core, and I don't even have access to the planets that give the mats required to craft one.

This is really poor quest planning. A Helmith Charger should count for the quest completion, or constructing another power core should be available on Earth, as that's where I was when I got this breeding quest.

Is there any other way to get a power core besides buying the blueprint, waiting until I'm advanced enough to get to the later game planets, and crafting it?
Is it awarded anywhere? Could someone trade it to me?

You have to build the Cores. You can ask someone to taxi you to a planet with those resourses.

You should have followed the quest's instructions, instead of wasting your freebie incubator core on something that wasn't part of the quest.

As it stands, the fastest way to get a new Incubator Power Core is to ask for a taxi to the Void to get argon crystals, and craft a new incubator power core using them. You should be able to - the Incubator Power Core blueprint is reusable.

Sounds more like the normal problems with the quest and not relating to the Charger itself, see the following copypasta to see if it resolves the issue.


"If you have already matured the kubrow but the quest hasn't moved on try this:

1)Set Howl of the Kubrow as the active quest.
2)Put your kubrow in stasis.
3)Restore kubrow from stasis and log out at least a min before restoration is complete.
4)Log in again after the restoration is completed and Lotus will talk to you about your full grown kubrow and what should you do next."


The stasis steps will take a few hours if you don't have the clan research upgrade but still faster than a new companion.

Just leave the quest for later and do other quests. You won't be using kubrow anyway. His maintenance is 3000 credits per day if you plan to use him. He does not have Vacuum mod or something similar so you will have trouble gathering your loot or more specifically you will waste extra time runing around and still will result in less loot than with sentinel. You also need nano spores to craft that incubator core and 100k credits that may or may not be a problem for you, but still rather large investment for something that useless. For spores you may have to ask for another taxi to some far away planet (Saturn at least). Or you can gather spores from derelicts if Maroo sends you there for weekly statue quest.

At least they give one free core now. A month ago there was none so you had to craft one manually.

Don't worry, you didn't lose anything important by doing things out of order. You would need to make that charger anyway to get exp for mastery rank from it.

the charger worked for my kubrow quest. my kubrow didn't because i didn't have the quest active at the time it finished incubating but i tried with a charger and the quest active and it worked fine

They lowered the cost of DNA stuff.. it is nowhere near 3000 a day now.... honestly I don't think it was ever that high.

You forgot something really important about lots of new players: They don't read.

Don't worry about it, everything will come in time.

There's a low level void section you'll be able to use to farm argon crystals that you dont have to wait long for (its like level 10 or something) and you dont need to complete the quest right away. You can go to the quest computer and hide the quest for now. You have a pet so its not important and charger > kubrow anyway.

It is 75000 for 6 charges of 40% DNA recovery. Each day kubrow loses 10% so it is 75000 credits for 24 days or 3125 credits per day.

Unless you make Nutrio Incubator Upgrade Segment that requires 115k credits, 1200 oxium and another power core cell (plus extra 20k credits, 600 oxium, 2 tellurium if you use your own guild to research blueprint yourself). Then price per day drops a lot and becomes managable. Charges cost 5000 instead of 75000 and kubrow loses only 5% per day, so it becomes 5000 for 48 days or 104 credits per day. But this requires a rather large investment from new player before he can craft this upgrade.

Grind to saturn, it should take all of a few hours to do if you are grinding heavily enough. Then farm all those sweet, sweet nano spores

EDIT: Or as someone else told me, maroo's ayatan treasure hunt sometimes takes you to the derelict, im not sure how well that works or if it does, but its worth a try
