Best weapon for mastery rank 4?

Just pick the one that sounds cool to you. Physical damage doesn't matter much if you got elemental mods to actually damage the different factions properly.

I'm looking for a decent weapon to use because some weapons are not that amazing

There are lots of decent weapons, and to get your mastery rank up, you're going to have to try a lot of them anyway.

I like the Galatine, Nikana stance are a bit slow to me and has you rooted in a spot at times.

Sorry, you can't try out weapons before building/buying them. Would be nice though. Codex/Simulacrum 2.0 when?

No, like crafting weapons just to use them. You're going to go through a lot of weapons to reach a "high" (because it used to be high back when I played) mastery rank of 19, while simultaneously having only a handful in each slot that you'll actually use when you're "serious". I, for example, have Dakra Prime as my "I'll kill everything" melee, out of the God knows how many I have, because the majority of them is either missing a catalyst or just fodder. You'll find yourself going through quite a few weapons you don't *actually* like to increase your mastery rank, so you can have things like increased daily standing and more trades per day. Also, don't forget to fully rank your weapons to 30 before throwing them away.
