Are bows viable?

For a long time i have been using my dread but since i started using weapons like the corinth it feels really bad.
Like its great to pick of single targets with red crits but this game is balanced around hordes and my dread just doesnt get kills as fast as a shotgun/grenadelauncher against groups.
Are there any mods to make the bow better alround?

Bows, it is like bringing a knife to a gunfight in most cases imho. Sure, I have seen players doing awesome things with bows but that needs a lot of practice and the right mods.

I used the bow especially in the beginning. It was fun but there are simply weapons that can do much better.

They say that because dread has the highest critical chance along with lenz out of any other bows which makes it deal orange crits with just a normal point strike put in it. It also does slash damage. I actually used it on an ambulas bow only sortie and we won. The bow can be made very powerful without even using a catalyst. I still prefer Lenz, Cernos Prime and Artemis Bow for CC, but when it comes to single target damage Dread is the winner.

For real though, it's good comparsion because the best thing you can do with knife in a gunfight is off yourself.

Yes Lenz is viable.
Also Lenz is pretty good too , but not as good as Lenz.
However there is also a bow called Lenz that is really amazing.

Bows are good, they just require skill, timing, and ability to aim and plan your shots. Punchthrough is your friend, exploding arrows is your friend (and your enemy), and proper modding is fairly crucial. For everything but open world bosses, they can be some of the highest single target damage sources, which also benefit from punch and guided shot.

With enough practice and commitment, you can clear hordes of enemy with just a Paris Prime.
If you just want to be a genuine bow user, use Dread or Paris Prime.
If you want to be a bow user that wants to clear faster, use Rakta Cernos or Cernos Prime (eugh).
If you want to just want to have an easier time and be one of those fake "Bow" posers, use Lenz.

Ideally, bows are viable against mobs but I wouldn't want to use them against over-sponged bosses, its why you carry an effective Secondary weapon and a good melee. It does vary on playstyle. The best bow is probably the exalted bow from Ivara with concentrated arrow.

If you used Dread or Paris Prime quite often and tend to crit headshots. Then using Artemis Bow with Concentrated Arrow will make you a god tier mob clearer and hard hitter. The downside to Artemis Bow is no punchthrough, though if you pull headshots it makes up for it with an explosion. Exactly how Thunderbolt used to be before it was nerfed.

i love bows but they are too slow for any mission which have a horde or enemies....
