I know now I screwed up but... [potenial spoilers]

I haven't seen this on here before, but I have to imagine happens a lot. I hadn't even completed The Sacrifice and found myself with 3 umbral warframe mods (and 2 umbral weapon mods). Nothing, and I mean *nothing* in the game tells you that these mods are *a one time reward* and are totally and completely irreplaceable. Being that I was fairly new to the game, and seeing that the only warframe that even has umbral polarity is the excaliber umbra, one which no guide anywhere says is even an endgame viable warframe, and also seeing that theres no way to even polarize a slot on other warframes to match the umbral polarity, I figured that they'd only be in the way, at least the armor and health ones. On my mag I only cared about ability damage (again I'm new and thought wow this ability 4 is super powerful) so I thought the only way I can get all the ability strength mods I need in this warframe is to not use the amor and health umbral mods. Naturally since I was short on endo I did what i do with every mod I'm not using: I dissolved them. Again, the game gives no indication that I can't get them back like *every othey mod I've ever gained to that point (inb4 someone saying "you didn't read the fine print", wherever that may be; there's no *obvious* indication that these are irreplaceable).

So I'm playing with someone super OP with decked out chroma prime, and they tell me "yeah you totally effed yourself because having all of them is a MUST for any good build".

So now what? Delete my MR12 account and start totally over just so I can get these two mods? Am I simply completely unviable for endgame content forever? Will I be wasting my time farming Chroma Prime because I don't have all the umbral mods and so I won't be as good as good can be with them?

Someone mentioned that I could contact support and *maybe* I'll get someone in a good mood who'll take pity on me and give them back. Is that a thing?

What are some opinions about all of this?

No idea what you mean by the new war. I'm guessing that's some bit of lore I haven't been exposed to yet.

Also, I understand that something may be important and I do always try to keep one of every mod, but some mods I simply never use and there are many occasions where I'm tight on endo or credits, and mods are my go-to source for both in a pinch, since *every other mod* I've come across has always been replaceable. The only exception is rivens, but even those are easily replaceable with enough plat and kuva.

You say the umbra mods aren't mandatory for endgame and that's exactly what I'm looking to understand: I have people telling me I seriously screwed myself by getting rid of them, you seem to be saying I don't need them necessarily. That's what I'm trying to figure out; just how badly am I screwed, if at all?

And what lesson have I been taught? I don't infinite inventory slots. So that gorgon I crafted, maxed and sold you're telling me will have retroactively been a huge mistake because I wasn't clairvoyant enough to know that in the future it may become irreplaceable? Should I spend RL money to buy platinum to get a slot for every single warframe and weapon? Should I devote endless time to making sure I keep one of every mod when selling for credits or endo? At what point does my lack of clairvoyance about what may or may not be important become a reasonable trait for a normal human being and I can simply fous on enjoying the game and not worry about having to hear that I screwed myself because I didn't know something that only very experience players would know?

Frankly by the time you get to do the Umbra quest you should know to look in the wiki before you sell any weapon that may be needed for crafting. And getting a one time item from a quest is nothing new by that point either.

Beyond that mod space is not capped except for rivens so making sure you have at least one of each just in case isn't that odd.

The new war is something they are working on for the future and the whole Umbra and sentient bonus mods are about that future content.

edit add - some of my most tanky builds have none of those mods in them and I can do spider fights and eidolons solo... arbitrations just fine... onslaught... sorties ... without Umbra mods.

Well he can wait for more Umbra content and I am sure those mods will be available again, or he can start over if he can't wait.

No, you can not buy umbra or the mods. Once they're gone they're gone.
Anyways OP should try contacting support as sometimes they don't mind reversing this kind of thing, just simply tell them you didn't know you could only get it once.

To be fair those mods have "Primed quality" color, that's a huge red flag to not sell them, but it's also true that DE could make them unsellable like Excalibur Umbra or the Paracesys instead of giving the players the chance to ♥♥♥♥ up.

There is no lesson to learn here, just players looking down.

NO! They are not required and there are, indeed, many other mods that are better for other frames than these few.

If you have just one item of a sort, inform yourself whether you can get it back before getting rid of it.
