Kavat Genetic codes gone
A couple of days ago I finally got 10 genetic codes but was not ready to use them. I have my first Kubrow in stasis and got the mats for the incubator upgrade. I saw the DNA code on the incubator but now it's been replaced by a Kubrow egg and I have no genetic codes anymore. Does anyone know what might have happened to the codes? Do they only last for a certain amount of time? it's quite the pain to get 10 codes.

For your first kavat you need 20 genetic codes, 10 to build the incubator segment and 10 for the kavat itself.

DOH - I forgot I used the codes to build the incubator segment, thanks for the smack. Three exterminate runs and one segment, ugh.

Back on the grind, my friend! It's well worth it.

I always have the scanner in hand and the best melee weapons I have. I scan often when I'm in the mission and kill everything when they are not around. When the scanner picks one up I use the stomp ability on my Rhino Prime to freeze everything in place so I can do the scan. Then it's back to slaughter.

There are other frames that can shift time or freeze that would work just as well I'm sure but the Rhino keeps me alive with the iron skin ability. Sometimes I can corner the kavat and scan without freezing and as long as my iron skin is up I take no damage.

From what I can tell they are random throughout the instance and can also be spawned by a particular firey adversary. You just need to keep scanning areas as you go and you will find them. Whenever you see a crowd or are about to enter a new area scan scan scan. That's why I always have the scanner equipped and good melee weapons. I rarely use any other weapon.

If you prefer to sacrifice the double scan chances for time efficiency, I'd suggest bringing Heliocor to get those kavats gene by smacking them with it. It works pretty well since Heliocor will automatically scan whatever it kills.

thanks good to know

But you need to have a Heliocor and unfortunately I do not. So for me it's scan scan scan :)

I broke down and purchased one. Now I have to level it up.

Kavat Genetic Codes are found on Feral Kavat, not the tamed ones spawned by the Grineer, and Ferals are only found in the Orokin Derelect tileset. They are usually either invisible or fighting infested, and they move a lot, so any manner of CC without (too much) damage is very nice (low power rhino stomp, equinox/ivara sleep, etc.).
