could not run the warframe executable (antivirus software may be interfering)

I get this straight from startup and game won't launch. I have tried:

-reinstalling Warframe
-using VPN
-turning of windows defender and firewall
-verifying download cache


My Nintendo Switch port starts fine.


Any ideas what should I try next?

Hi. I realize this is pretty old, but did you ever solve this ?

I had this problem and realized that I set the exe to run as administrator in the compatibility options. After I removed that it started fine.

Just leaving this here in case someone else has the same problem.

Find the folder that you downloaded warframe. After that right click Warframe.64 and click properties.Choose compability and un-tick the 'Run this program as an administirator. It should help.If not contact to DE.

Just tried this, and after everything else failed, this worked. Thanks so much! I'd been running the game from Warframe/Tools/Launcher as a workaround, but it doesn't let you access tennogen if you're not using it through Steam!

Doing some oldschool necromancy here. With the launch of Veilbreaker (and on Windows 11) trying this fixed the issue for me. There seems to be some kind of permissions bug if the launcher is set to run as admin in the compatibility settings, so removing that got everything working.

I tried to update to Veilbreaker and my internet was pretty shoddy so cut out a bit and i didnt finish it before i turned my PC off then tried to open it today and I am experiencing this issue, I have tried a few things and am currently doing a cache verification i will try the above fix and se how it goes, if it doesnt work does anyone else have anything to try other than reinstalling

Search your control panel for the firewall exceptions. Add warframe to the exceptions.
