Depending on your ship and its equipped skin, it may have shiny parts to color, or it may not. Get one that's shiny, and color it as you'd like, including gold.
Platinum-free ship skins include the Prisma skins that may sometimes be brought bi-weekly by Baro Ki'Teer, the Void Trader. I believe he's made Prisma skins for all existing ship types. Those skins cover the majority of the ship in colorable shiny metal with a nice sheen to it.
Some are sold by Baro'ki'ter.

That little dot infront is your landing craft that doubles as a detachable bridge

You can paint and place skins on your landing craft but you can only paint the inside of the orbiter.
Anything past the ramp is the oribiter
