acolytes come back like twice a year and there's probably a lot of wondering if their melee mods will be nerfed with the upcoming changes
Thx for quick reply :)
There was an adjustment many consider a nerf. Basicly after some time in her ult, the range of the ult would halve, but the damage (and energy cost) would double. The goal of the change was to make her less of a "press one button and afk" frame as well as give her extra damage for higher level missions.
It was a nerf. And didn't fix her scaling issues at all. If anything it made things worse.
I'm not sure if you were around when spin2win Telos Boltace was a thing, but it has since not just been nerfed into the ground, it has been nerfed straight through the ground and resurfaced somewhere in China. The 15m radial damage wave was removed altogether, replaced with a "spin attack once to forcefully pull enemies toward you, spin attack a second time to ragdoll them and launch them away from you" mechanic that does zero damage on its own and has about a 3 second cooldown betwen uses.
More recently, all melees were changed such that they can no longer hit enemies through level geometry, making all of the remaining high-range spin2win weapons, such as Atterax and Scoliac, significantly less effective at full-room clearing than they used to be. Combine that with the fact that the acolytes have been coming back about twice a year (the most recent about a month ago), and prices for the formerly near-1000p mod are at an all-time low. There's also the fact that Melee 3.0 should be coming sometime in the not-too-distant future, and nobody really knows specifics of if and how the current meta mods will be affected by it.
Most of that is just due to the Acolytes' recent reappearance, but it seems that lately more and more people are learning that Argon Scope is... just not a very good mod. Its bonus sounds good in theory, but statistically speaking you get a higher DPS increase from a simple 90% elemental damage mod.
