[Spoilers] What are Warframes, actually?
So.
Warframes are, supposedly, just suits of armour controlled by Operators.
But as we see in the Sacrifice, it is indeed possible to turn a person into a frame.
While Umbra is the only frame who is sentient during Transference, what if other frames actually have a life of their own as well?

Let's look at these few things:
1. Warframes have a strong connection to the infestation. They have organic material within them alongside mechanical - so basically flesh-like tissue that could form a body of a live organism.

2. Warframe descriptions refer to frames with their respective genders, which as suits of armour, they shouldn't have, right? Also, in The Limbo Theorem Ordis refers to Limbo as "he", and in Hidden Messages Lotus refers to Mirage as "she", even though they don't know who their operators were - and Lotus most certainly knows what Warframes are and how they work.

3. Mirage Prime's trailer. There's something pointed out in the comment section of Mirage Prime's Warframe wikia page, lemme quote:
""Oh, how you suffered to become this beast. Yet you laughed at me. Others writhed and raged in the vice, but you, you played the fool. And so it was, that you distorted my design.' Hey u all know wat, i think that the SACRIFICE quest is based on how ppl were changed into warframe, and the sacrifice required were their bodies, or why would ballas say :"Oh, how you suffered to become this beast. '" - Adventurer1356
We know about Umbra, but what if other Prime frames - and perhaps not Prime only - also were once actual people?

4. Another thing from Mirage Prime's comment section on the wikia page:
"That feel when you go to your ugly, near-useless Operator to check if you can afford next level of Energizing Dash.

And when you leave, you see your Mirage Prime sending a kiss to your Operator."
Now, I don't know whether this is true, since I don't own Mirage Prime myself, but if it is - wouldn't it be kinda strange for the Operator to send a kiss to themselves? As we leave the Operator's room, they return to their dream - and regain control of their Warframe, since they were originally controlled by dreaming (correct me if I'm wrong), so doesn't Mirage do it before the Operator controls her again?

5. Despite Warframes being immobile and immune to damage when you use Transference, they can still be knocked down and will get up by themselves. Now, this is mostly a gameplay thing, and most likely has no lore meaning, but it kinda fits in with the other stuff here.

6. In the Sacrifice, Ordis comments that a Warframe is an envoy of the Operator. He doesn't adress the frame as a weapon, an armour or a tool - an envoy, someone sent by someone else, someone chosen.

So, what are y'all's thoughts about this? This probably isn't actually right and they're still suits but I was thinking about this a lot and it doesn't give me peace now

We kinda saw the average warframe with some sentient presence when tthe stalker stabbed your warframe. Right when it got to the operator the supposbly dead warframe ripped apart war, killing Hunhow and creating the broken war

Orokin elite, infested by Helminth strain of infestation forms into most powerful war toys we know as Warframes.
They are dead inside, yet infestation keeps them alive and they have awareness limited to basic reflex like some low IQ creatures have - knows to stand straight, knows the danger for their own survivability, can recognize injury, has adrenaline rush to it.

Guess that infestation was the way to connect organic and mechanical parts in a living creature, could be that idea for it is augmenting the best soldiers and infestation drove them mad (Umbra) so next step was memory wipe (or suppress) which worked and Operators were able to establish links to them and control them.

We do not have too much details on it

That was definitely yet another person who never really put any effort into either aspect of the Operator... damn thing's more useful than a few frames.

Not to mention description of Rhino Prime is a story telling how this Warframe was a wild beast killing everything in it's way until it stumbled upon room containing operators, at which point it went passive.

It's funny how much forward knowledge players can have if they comb entire game for lore. :D
I'll answer your questions later, as I happen to be busy right now.

I'm really interested now in personal stories of different warframes. They clearly had personalities (therefore unique and thematic armor design). Even though we're using their copies now it could be kinda interesting who the originals were in life =)

They are abominations and need to be purged from the face of the earth. Unnatural twisted flesh, controlled by the spawn of Satan himself.

I'll be honest with y'all
I'm just doing this to justify being attracted to female frames while having a male operator lol

Ty everyone for the input btw <3
I seem to have skipped a lot of things like the whole thing with Rhino Prime ;w;

Nope you are just attracted to a techno organic,
Puss filled cyber zombie being run by a psychic child on the spectrum.

Well, at some point your operator literally gets inside each of them, so yeah, there's that. But personally I made my character a girl, cause the story looks more interesting that way. Besides, the stuff with Umbra would be kinda uncomfortable if the operator is a dude xD

Why did you have to tell me about the Umbra stuff. I can't unthink this now. xD

My mirage does the No.4 thing all the time. It's just one of the animations it has.
