I answered that i my last post.
You claimed games have to have "equal propaganda." The awards automatically suggest games that you have played in the past year that are eligible to be nominated, games that are from YOUR own play history or allow you to search for another eligible game to nominate. It seems pretty fair to me that games I have played are suggested for me to nominate for game of the year awards. That makes sense to me.
You claimed in your last post that "Death Stranding is probably going to win the Game of the Year award." Guess what, Death Stranding didn't pop up in a single category for me. Where is the unfair propaganda there? I mean if they're going to propagandize then I should have received a suggestion to nominate it, right?
Death Stranding ins't in PCs yet. How would it show up in Steam 2019 awards for a award if PC version isn't launched yet? It will come in 2020 for PC, i guess.
The answer i gave in that last post still valid.
People masses like what propaganda says they should like. Of course, you will understand that not everyone will follow the mass, but, a great part of people's opinions and tastes are molded by the media/marketing/propaganda.
You just explained how a propaganda tool works in limiting the vision for a fair evaluation: Algorithms. Steam will suggest you games with tags of games you already played.
If you're a COD fan and play only FPS games, Steam wouldn't (probably, they have a system to counter this issue) recommend you a Point & Click story rich game - thus, the chances for you to play that Point & Click story rich game and analyze it's story, gameplay, etc is decreased - thus, you will probably think COD stories and campaings are good and better than other styles of games that you've never played or tasted.
No, my nomination suggestions were not games with "tags of games I already played." My suggestions were LITERALLY games that I have played, of mixed genres, that are eligible for the 2019 award.
It does make sense that I would vote for games I have actually played does it not, or is that "propaganda" as you put it?
And tell us what you would consider a fair evaluation if not based on individual player votes and then tallied up? Do you want some sort of committee to evaluate what game deserves to be picked? That's not really fair to the individuals then is it?
It is being considered a 2019 release even though it came out years ago and failed so bad it was not worth supporting by the devs and they handed it off to Valve to handle.
Valve does not care they just want to sell the game so calling it a 2019 release helps them promote it.
So what about borderlands 3? I see people in the Rebel Galaxy forum saying GOTY for the new one on Epic store but you can't even vote for games not on steam.
Will they be up for voting next year when they come to steam? I bet they will since these are steam awards and they want to push their products.
The whole limiting of voting for almost all the votes to games released in 2019 is BS anyway... it is all to push sales of new games. Same thing happens when devs pay for good reviews... garbage in = garbage out.
I think im not being clear enough...
How you will meet a game, a random game, play it and like it, if this exact game would never be recommended to you?
Steam is full of games. No way someone can play all of them to know their real value.
People can't evaluate nothing with fair precision. That's my point.
Propaganda and Marketing is behind all of this - everything that's worth money in this world, people will try to (and will be able to) control. Im not just talking about a random debate about a random Steam game award. Wake up. Read my words.
When you study Marketing, Psychology, Neuroscience, Programming, etc you understand that is easy to program peoples minds to do what you want, thus, to make them spend their money in things they don't really want to.
All my arguments were based in this - i was never talking ONLY about a random game awards.
Don't you get it yet?
Thus, people that haven't played a game yet, but vote for it as being good, claims that this game is good because he/she saw someone's opinion about that game before, then, he/she will buy it -> Propaganda/Marketing.
Your point about personal evaluation of a product is not wrong, but im talking about something that is beyond that, beyond your personal opinion after playing a game.
All this does is drive numbers for marketing.
That was my point! Yay! xD
Games are inherently different though. People will play a game over and over unlike going to see a movie... although I do admit to watching Empire Strikes Back in the theater about 15 times... they are only in the theater for a limited time. Voting for a game over the years just proves how good that game is... why should it be ignored? Because these things are based off selling new products not on actual worth.
