In order to unlock and proceed to the mars junction do i have to finish both venus and mercury???

You have to go through Venus to reach Mercury Junction. There's no straight path from Earth to Mercury.

"Complete" is a bit much. Minimum ya gotta do all the requirements for the Venus Junction and Mercury which no doubt has kill the Venus Assassinate and do the Suisei spy mission on Mercury, plus

Defeat Jackal at Fossa
Complete 10 waves of Defense at Tessera in a single mission
Rescue a Hostage from Linea
Defeat 5 Eximus enemies in any region

So have to do Suisei, 10 waves of Tessera, Linea. Other than that just do the other requirements and complete any path that gets you to the Junctions.

You can also get a taxi from other players to just before the junction... this is how you can get to Mars without going through POE if your computer has issues with the open world zones.
