Probably because the guy is trying to vent about a frustratingly tedious mechanic and doesn't need to hear the lispy cries of "achthully" from a generic steam forum contratian who exists to worship that one thing everyone else hates. There's always one.
Nah I dont think I will
I'm finding liches cannot cope with melee builds. Their command grab is formidable, but easily avoided by charging through to trigger it and harshly punishable after they miss. Valkyr built with Umbra's mods on her frame and claws is an apex predator of combat bosses, she and tears through liches with the same merciless efficiency.
The inability to abandon a lich hunt, or even ignore their transmissions, is a grave oversight. If I had my way, you'd be able to buy a blueprint from Steel Meridian or New Loca to make an item that removes the lich for you. You'd lose all stolen loot and gain no reward of any kind, but you'd be free of it.
I accidentally got one 'forced' on me... and have no way to get rid of it...
Untill DE adds a function (it has been discussed on a dev stream), to get rid of it without having to farm the stuffs and kill/convert it, the game is, more or less, dead to me... And that's unfortunate, I really used to love the game...
But now, I can hardly log in to it...the jouy of the game is totally gone...
And that's only because they (DE), didn't really think things over before they released the 'lich-crap'.
What the heck am i reading?
Heavy exaggeration.
2 hours is a very, very generous estimate I would only give to somebody fully prepared to hunt them down with all Requiem mods available, too much free time, and a steamroll weapon. The simple act of not having all the Requiem mods immediately tacks a potential 2+ hours of RNG by itself. This is unrealistic and exaggerated, or elitist. Wouldn't be out of place in the Warframe community tbh.
Liches do quite a lot if you don't get rid of them. They steal rewards from every game mode except specifically relics from Siphon missions. I had a number of Sortie rewards stolen by mine before I finally gave enough of a crap to kill it.
Before the opt-in was created, a Larvaling dying from literally anything would trigger it. This includes other players killing it, dying from environmental damage like an explosive barrel or fire batch, the Shadows from an allied Nekros, a different Saryn on your team killing it, the list goes on. Having a larvaling spawn at all ran the risk of it dying to some assorted stupidity and nailing you with a Lich. That's why people were avoiding larva-compatible missions like the plague before the opt-in patch; it wasn't remotely worth the risk.
"Too much free time" isn't a good argument as there's nothing worth "time" in WF outside completing the story, so everything else you do outside that requires "too much free time".
Steamroll weapon? What would you need that for? Unless you're playing solo for some dumb reason, or hell even in that case you don't even need a weapon. Revenant is MR0 and craftable as soon as you finish The War Within. You put up Mesmer Skin and Reave through the lich when it sleeps. You could literally bring rank 0 mk-1 weapons and still be able to defeat the lich with ease. If you don't want to use Revenant you bring who you want and play online, making the other players steamroll the thing instead, only being careful if it's a Toxin lich which are the only threathening liches in the game.
They steal rewards? Oh noo, not the 15 neurodinos, not those poor 100 spores, not those 2500 creditoons, clearly stuff i need to survive in the game. When you get to the point of worrying about rivens seriously you have enough materials and firepower to make the game a joke. I understand if this was about them stealing their own mods and relics, that was clearly crap that didn't make any sense and needed to be fixed(and it was). But other than rivens and legendary cores all sortie rewards are worthless enough that they can wait the day you need for a lich if you're lazy. I'm on my....16th lich? 20th? Lost count, but anyway this guy has been active for all of December, and will be active for all of January too because it's absolutely a non-issue, even for players who just finished TWW(and i can say this because i also made a new account on Xbox when Nightwave Season 2 started). Not mentioning that it only stays on a few nodes of a single planet if you don't level it up, and it never spreads any more than that. Mine has 3 nodes on Mars and that's it. The guy has 2 and half words unlocked yet is still level 1 because he never bothered showing his face. If you don't level them up they are absolutely non-threathening and unlike the Stalker they don't even lock rooms when they appear, nor do they teleport them to you or you to them, making escaping from them as a just-finished-TWW player easy enough, certainly easier than the good old resurrecting Zealots from the above-named NW S2.
Its not the usefulness of the relics that I'm debating, I use them constantly since each mod dissolves for 1k endo. It's the fact that if your Lich requires a mod you don't have and you aren't willing to trade for plat, its a complete crapshoot as to how long it will take to get it. You'll need 3 out of 8 possible mods, so if you don't already own all of them, it can be an RNG nightmare to get your hands on them.
Too much free time entailing wasting your entire day either grinding murmurs or throwing your corpse at the Lich enough times to get it to go away.
"You don't need a steamroll weapon, you just need a steamroll frame"
That does not help your case.
Also, online Lich hunting is bordering on dead already because the majority of the playerbase now finds them irrelevant and not even remotely worth the effort for a few crappy weapons. I see it across the forums and my friend and I saw it yesterday, you're lucky if you get one person to join your Lich murmur hunt, and a full squad is a pure pipe dream.
Recruit chat is also not a valid counter, recruit chat should never be mandatory for anything. Content should be interesting enough to make people WANT to play it, not beg for pity from vets with nothing better to do than carry somebody through Level 110 Thralls.
Any sortie mission that ends on that planet is a forfeit reward before it even happens. It's really engaging and exciting to see when I open today's sortie menu that my reward is gone before I've even done the sortie. It really feels like a true rival. Some of us actually look forward to sortie rewards because we aren't drowning in 7-forma Opticor Vandal builds and Rubico Rivens to make the game a joke and money no object. Any attempt to kill the Lich will also invariably result in it leveling up thanks to instakill trial and error, which will cause a chain reaction where you are forced to kill it because in attempting to kill it once, you've caused it to spread further and further until it plagues your entire star chart like a bunch of rats. Also, if you clear a world of Lich influence by completing all the nodes, the Lich instantly ranks up anyways and takes over another world. DE made sure there is no way out of the Lich once you have one except smashing your head into the grindwall until either your brain leaks out or the wall gives way.
Either way:
For a person with zero investment into Lich hunting,(no requiem mods or relics) it will take nearly a full day of casual play to get rid of it. A full, wasted day of sheer painful grind that only serves to remind you that you could be doing actual FUN things at the moment. Except unlike release month, the coop side is bordering on dead and it almost forces you to play solo or rope a friend into it. A large amount of people clearly hold a large dislike for the Lich "content" and DE needs to admit their mishandling and either overhaul the entire system or make a true way to get rid of a Lich without being forced to "git the grind".
Yeah, maybe I could have...IF I wasn't so effing frustrated by the fact that it was no 'safety' whatsoever...
I really don't mind the Lich to be in the game...for ppl that like that kind of farming...
But I DO NOT like to get the crap forced on me like it was for the first few days...
Even DE thought it was a bad move to force them...and dropped a patch that made the starting process of it A CHOICE....that you actualy have to use a special 'attack' to get it...
But nowhere did they offer a chance for us (I'm probably not the only one that got one forced upon me), to get rid of their misstake.
And like I said, I have no problem that they're in the game...as long as one can make a choise of getting it...
And don't give me that crap about 'if you just...bla bla...it's EZ... '
Sure, for SOME it's probably EZ af... And for some it might even be fun to farm stuffs that are hidden behind DOUBLE RNG-walls....or have a crapload of plat to spare on buying the mods...
For others, like me, it is not...
Up to the point when they released the Lich-crap... I really loved the game...
But the way it was released...with NO SAFUGUARDS, and the fact that they (DE), refuses to even discuss it... Well...
