Possible glitch with focus farming in Sanctuary Onslaught?
Me and this guy from recruit decided to try out the Trinity+Nuke Frame Focus Farm. I was told legends of 10-15k focus per wave. So we got excited and joined a public lobby, turns out there's a Saryn Prime as well. So I start spamming 2 (Energy Vampire), and replenish everyones energy. My teammate, who was using Volt Prime, constantly spammed his nuke/crowd control abilities. Saryn wasn't as consistent but did help in the later rounds. But behold the amount of focus we got in the second zone! a measly 3-5k. I was farming two schools, so it was 1.5k and 1.5k, and Volt Prime got around 5k total, 1.5k above my number (consistent through all zones until zone 8, when we simply quit). We got over 10k ONCE fighting off infested. He says he gets more focus without the unlimited energy, and I also get way more than 4k focus a zone while using Rhino Prime.
Is this a glitch? Or some sort of cap that DE placed for people using infinite energy Trinity?!

There are multiple factors here.

1. The person killing the whole room (usually a Saryn, Volt, Equinox, etc) will be the person getting the most direct affinty (Because xp from Warframe kills goes 100% to the Warframe. For allies the shared affinity will be 25% to their Warframes and 75% distributed between their equiped weapons). By this I mean all that xp goes to one source, one Lens, were allies may have different Lens on their stuff, or missing Lens or whatever.

2. Different enemies give different amounts of Affinty. For example Infested gives some of the lowest while Grineer generaly give the most.

3. Different Maps may be more spread out, have less spawns, etc.

4. There is an annoying trend on Affinty/Focus Guides/Videos were they claim to be getting huge amounts of Focus but forget to mention they have an Affinty Booster active (which is 2x Affinity btw).

5. Enemy lvl also matters. Which raises over time. So it will start out low and progressively increase.

I get what you mean. But I remember CLEARLY getting 17k focus one match with saryn (no infinite affinity). I was super happy, but never happened again. I still got 10k consistently though. In this case the squad has infinite affinity with 2 nuking frames and we got less focus than the amount we would get running around like monkeys.

Really depends on enemy type, map density and size. A smaller to a decent sized map, with good density, means your DPS frames get to hit everything, which means more kills and generally focus. All Grineer maps give the most focus, followed by Corrupted/Corpus and then infested.

And also yea, the Lens type matters in how much Focus you gain, and make sure to just have one Weapon equipped, with a lens on it.

Wait. So having 3 weapons equipped (with all same tier lenses) is worse for focus gains?

One on your frame, and one on your Weapon. Pretty sure you can only get Focus off one Weapon and a frame at a time. Anything more is inefficient.

Wut?

With 4 different Lens, or 4 of the same Lens on all your loadout, you'll get 25%/25%/25%/25% from Shared Affinity.

Affinity / focus shared from squadmate kills is split between all equipped weapons and your frame. 25% goes to your frame and 75% is evenly split between any equipped weapons (25% each for 3, 37.5% each for 2 and 75% for 1).

Affinity / focus from your ability kills goes purely to your frame.

Affinity / focus from your weapon kills is split evenly between your frame and that specific weapon.

Anything that you bring without an equipped lens will still take it's share of affinity without being able to convert it to focus. This is the only way to "lose" focus you should have gotten.

These things mean that to maximize affinity gain in squad, you need to put a lens on yourr frame AND all weapons you bring.

In a squad set to run EV trinity + nuker, the nuker will get most of the kills and have all of their kill affinity applied to their frame while the trinity will get almost no kills and have the affinity split between their frame lens and their weapon lenses. Note, the nuker should still lens their wepaons just to avoid losing focus to the occasional kill from others.

Multiple nukers can work but usually the "meta" is ev trin to maximize energy regen + rhino to buff damage with roar + 1-2 nukers. one nuker can be full damage focus (sarynish) and other can be semi CC (voltish). 2 nukers also makes sense in ESO because of the lockout on 4, alternating nukes can maintain damage despite the wait to cast.

The problem with mixing a pre-made setup and pugs is that your trin + volt pair probably sat in 1 spot while the 2 pugs got tired of not seeing anything and went to the edges of the map to kill. So they would have been clearing alot without being close enough to share to you 2.

You can kinda counter this by switching your focus school to Vazarin (the one that increases affinity range). Neither of you should need Naramon (the melee school), Uniaru (the defensive school) or Zenurik (the energy regen school) anyway. If you run with full premade that isn't going to run off willy nilly, your nukers would probably do better running Madurai (the damage school).

Also, Eidolon lens gives 28.5% more focus than greater lens does, so you're better off replacing your greaters with eidolons and only taking frame / weapon with eidolon lenses.

i dont want to spend 160 plat on lenses D: I am poor already even after buying 8000 plat :(

buy greater lens blueprints in the market for credits
takes 4 regular lenses to make a greater lens
use greater lens to craft Eidolon lens... blueprint from highest bounty.

did you have basic, greater or eidolon lenses. did you play normal or elite? in normal its over half less focus, go elite, i usually get like 13k per zone on bad zones, good zones i can get like 30k. and farm for eidolon lenses will give you over twice the focus from basic lens

Killing with Warframe abilities makes all the affinity to go to the Warframe (lens). 100% affinity
Killing with weapons and / or leeching exp from other Players grants you 100-75% affinity to weapons.
Sentinels Leech exp.

Having 1 weapon and 1 dps frame without sentinel weapon works best for getting ALL the affinity earned around you and from you.

Volt's 4 works wonders if the team has Corrosive Projection
Always farm with affinity booster or else you do half the job for double the work.

What I’m trying to say is that, instead of having to install a lens on each weapon (Primary, Secondary, Melee), you could just do with one weapon and lens, and just acquire all the focus to it.

Then remove 2 of your weapons and stay with warframe and one weapon, both must have lenses, and be 4 people squad for max enemies.

You are talking about Elite onslaught right? Not the regular one.

Yea, just tried Saryn Prime with 200% damage and 180 range, 160 duration, got 15k in one zone by just spreading spores...

use a volt, I get anywhere between 13k-50k each wave with an eidelon lens and 3 friends

what lens you used? how many wepaons you had and you had lens in them? had booster? Smeeta kavat? did your team wander off or all of you stood in one place? what enemies you fought against?(infested give the least amount of affinity, while grineer give the most)
also if you want to get focus go to Elite Onslaught, you can max out your cap in 2-3 run (play up to zone 8 with a nuke frame the nrepeat) or even less
THIS

The amount of focus you get depends on a lot of things.
- Size of the lens equipped (greater lens gives more focus)
- How many weapons and sentinel you had with you (more items, less focus - affinity like distribution)
- Affinity booster? (If that Volt had an affinity booster but "forgot" to tell you that...problem solved)
- Where was your lens equipped. Was it on a Warframe which doesn't had active killer skills or on a weapon?)

The 10-15k focus / vawe isn't a myth. It is normal on sanctuary onslaught. But only because the enemies are getting stronger and stronger. In the 1st few rounds, you will get only a few thousand focus. Once you reach vawe 8, only in that 1 vawe alone you can get 20K+

Only yesterday I went to SO with my Saryn, and with an affinity booster, i got 27K in my maduray (equipped on Saryn) and around 3K in Zenuric (equipped on my Arca Plasmor)
