One on your frame, and one on your Weapon. Pretty sure you can only get Focus off one Weapon and a frame at a time. Anything more is inefficient.
Wut?
With 4 different Lens, or 4 of the same Lens on all your loadout, you'll get 25%/25%/25%/25% from Shared Affinity.
Affinity / focus from your ability kills goes purely to your frame.
Affinity / focus from your weapon kills is split evenly between your frame and that specific weapon.
Anything that you bring without an equipped lens will still take it's share of affinity without being able to convert it to focus. This is the only way to "lose" focus you should have gotten.
These things mean that to maximize affinity gain in squad, you need to put a lens on yourr frame AND all weapons you bring.
In a squad set to run EV trinity + nuker, the nuker will get most of the kills and have all of their kill affinity applied to their frame while the trinity will get almost no kills and have the affinity split between their frame lens and their weapon lenses. Note, the nuker should still lens their wepaons just to avoid losing focus to the occasional kill from others.
Multiple nukers can work but usually the "meta" is ev trin to maximize energy regen + rhino to buff damage with roar + 1-2 nukers. one nuker can be full damage focus (sarynish) and other can be semi CC (voltish). 2 nukers also makes sense in ESO because of the lockout on 4, alternating nukes can maintain damage despite the wait to cast.
The problem with mixing a pre-made setup and pugs is that your trin + volt pair probably sat in 1 spot while the 2 pugs got tired of not seeing anything and went to the edges of the map to kill. So they would have been clearing alot without being close enough to share to you 2.
You can kinda counter this by switching your focus school to Vazarin (the one that increases affinity range). Neither of you should need Naramon (the melee school), Uniaru (the defensive school) or Zenurik (the energy regen school) anyway. If you run with full premade that isn't going to run off willy nilly, your nukers would probably do better running Madurai (the damage school).
Also, Eidolon lens gives 28.5% more focus than greater lens does, so you're better off replacing your greaters with eidolons and only taking frame / weapon with eidolon lenses.
takes 4 regular lenses to make a greater lens
use greater lens to craft Eidolon lens... blueprint from highest bounty.
Killing with weapons and / or leeching exp from other Players grants you 100-75% affinity to weapons.
Sentinels Leech exp.
Having 1 weapon and 1 dps frame without sentinel weapon works best for getting ALL the affinity earned around you and from you.
Volt's 4 works wonders if the team has Corrosive Projection
Always farm with affinity booster or else you do half the job for double the work.
What I’m trying to say is that, instead of having to install a lens on each weapon (Primary, Secondary, Melee), you could just do with one weapon and lens, and just acquire all the focus to it.
Then remove 2 of your weapons and stay with warframe and one weapon, both must have lenses, and be 4 people squad for max enemies.
You are talking about Elite onslaught right? Not the regular one.
The amount of focus you get depends on a lot of things.
- Size of the lens equipped (greater lens gives more focus)
- How many weapons and sentinel you had with you (more items, less focus - affinity like distribution)
- Affinity booster? (If that Volt had an affinity booster but "forgot" to tell you that...problem solved)
- Where was your lens equipped. Was it on a Warframe which doesn't had active killer skills or on a weapon?)
The 10-15k focus / vawe isn't a myth. It is normal on sanctuary onslaught. But only because the enemies are getting stronger and stronger. In the 1st few rounds, you will get only a few thousand focus. Once you reach vawe 8, only in that 1 vawe alone you can get 20K+
Only yesterday I went to SO with my Saryn, and with an affinity booster, i got 27K in my maduray (equipped on Saryn) and around 3K in Zenuric (equipped on my Arca Plasmor)
