[Suggeston] Filter mods by "equipped"
I realise that I'm a new player and still getting to grips with working the game's systems, but mod manangement has been an absolute nightmare for me, both accidentally scrapping mods I'm using and squinting really hard trying to find said mods I'm using to upgrade them. The menu appears to have two sets of filters, one of which can filter by the category of mods, the other (the dropdown) which can filter by quality and polarity. What's missing, however - at least that I can find - is a basic filter to hide or show only the mods I actually have equipped on my weapons. This has been a common topic of conversation with several friends I recently started playing the game with.

As such, I'm here to propose a new and simple toggle. Let's say we put it in the dropdown and we call it "Equipped Mods." It would have three self-explanatory options: 1. Show All, 2. Show Equipped Only, 3. Show Unequipped Only. That right there would probably cut my time staring at mods in half without losing any efficiency.

As long as we're making suggestions, I'd like a better marker for what mods are equipped. Right now, the marker is a small hexagon at the bottom-centre of a mod, just above the upgrade pips. While that's sufficient, it's also really hard to see at a glance. Instead, I propose giving a separate, obvious border/background to mods in use, something that I can catch off the corner of my eye as I drag-scroll through the list

Finally, I'd like some way to tell what item a mod is equipped on from the Mod Upgrade station without having to go back and forth between that and the Arsenal, as well as what that item's mod capacity is. A mouse-over tooltip would be perfect for this. It could simply list the weapon name and capacity. Let's say I'm looking at a Serration mod. The tooltip might look like this:

Equipped on: Skana (24/30) Fragor (56/60) Exalted Blade (12/20)

If any of these things exist and I just haven't found them, then I apologise.

Would be lovely to "lock" mods that you don't want to trade. I gave my friend Splitchamber but I gave her the one that I use on my weapons.

You probably should post this on the official forums where it will actually get seen by the devs and community (only a slight handful of them actually read the Steam forums, such as [DE]Taylor for instance): https://forums.warframe.com/

Also, if a mod is equipped on another weapon and the like and you have another weapon of the same type (such as a sentinel weapon) then it will have those ones grayed out to indicate as such

Also a very good idea, I completely agree. Would also save me from accidentally deleting mods I want by mistake. Frankly, I'm surprised by how prone the mod system is to accidents due to lack of information...

I'm aware, yes, but that only seems to be an issue between Sentinels and other items. You can have the same melee mod equipped in multiple melee weapons, for instance. A friend of mine actually had the same mod equipped twice on the same frame - once in his Skana, once in his Exalted Blade :)

I can give you a few tips on how to manage your mods.

If you want to upgrade a mod, say Vitality, you want to upgrade it from Arsenal, not from Mod station. When you are in warframe mod slot, pressing "X" (I'm using controller) will take you to "installed mod screen" of that warframe. Same thing apply to weapon and sentinel mod. All those duplicates mods wont be displayed.

Now if you want to sell duplicate mods to endo or credit, do it from the mod station and make sure to sort it by "Duplicates". This way your equipped mod and upgraded mod will be separated from your duplicate and unused mod. Also you dont want to sell any mod with no duplicate.

An example from mod station sorted by duplicates. Unequipped and unupgraded Vitality mod is separated from equiped and upgraded Vitality mod.

Also when you want to put mod to your warframe/weapon mod slot in arsenal, sort it by drain cost so mod with the high drain cost (upgraded mod have higher drain cost) will show up first. This way it will minimize you upgrading same mod twice.

IMO, this is the closest thing you can get right now to sort mod by equiped or not.

If you want to give a mod to a friend give it a rank 0 one.

But, if you want to help him saving endo too, then give him a 4/5 or 9/10 rank one, so you will be sure yours is safe and sound.

I know this tactic but It shouldn't be like this. I had maxed duplicate mods so I gave them away and the game should inform me what mods I'm using.

Huh... OK, so clicling the "Mods" button takes me to the Mod Upgrade station with a unique "Installed" filter. OK, that'll definitely work, and I'll disseminate this information among my friends at first opportunity.

It does make me wonder, though - why is the button called "Mods?" I never clicked it because I was already in "mods" by clicking Upgrade, I thought. Would it not make more sense to call the button "Upgrade mods" or some such? Still, that should be useful.

Agreed. At the very least, the UI should pop up a confirmation box if you're trying to sell or trade currently-equipped mods, a standard "Are you sure? Yes/Cancel" box. Actually, the Division has a solution to this via the "Favourites" mechanic. Tag an item as "Favourite" and it can no longer be sold, traded or salvaged. The game doesn't even ask you, it just disables your ability to do so.

The mods button in the upgrade screen takes you to the "actually main" mods screen, where you can select the equipped mods to upgrade. That's why is called "mods".

Also, use the ordering methods when at the regular mods screen. For when you want some endo, set it to "duplicates" so you can see what mods you have disposable duplicates of. Set to "obtained" or whatever to see which mods you obtained last. You also have filters for polarity and aura/stance/exilus. So yeah. I feel once you get acquainted with the search functions, you will find it all useful.
