from my experience - you will have more relics then you can possibly open.

just did quick math, it would take me approximately 130 hours of gameplay to open all my relics, that based on 5 minutes per relic... and all the if do not get any new relics which is impossible.

So I would rather suggest to open some more common relics whenever you are running for traces, common being relic you get most depending on where you play.
And relic that does not have something precious or super popular, like ballistica prime or cernos prime.

I have 1500 relics and I never did no-relic runs.
I really cannot see why would you try to save relics unless everything you have is vaulted (like 300 of those relics are with Vauban parts but even for those I do not care too much), or something super fancy Neo/Axi.
95% of Lith/Meso relics that are not vaulted are expendable

If you find it that annoying I would suggest you use recruiting channel to organize your group.

Telling people how they should play in a pub seems rather distasteful especially comming from a forum mod... just my 2 cents.

Do people who keep giving this awful advice actually follow it themselves? Going to recruit for non-meta stuff means staring at chat screen for several minutes waiting for replies and for the lobby to fill up. Most people aren't interested in wasting time like that for every single session. We just want to quick-join and get stuff done. We're here to play an action game, not a waiting game.

And pub fissure is THE place people go for ducat fodder and trace farming. This has always been the norm, the unwritten rule, the meta. It's like holding the door open for others, it's not mandatory but it's pretty much common courtesy.

I don't get mad if I see somebody in pub without a relic (usually new players), 99% of the time we pub fissures, everybody always has a relic. Those odds are good enough for me.


Speed-running to farm traces without relic is obviously best done solo. If you pub that, expect to wait 30-60 seconds anyway when you reach extraction room, this defeats the purpose of speed-running. When I farm traces, I solo it for this very reason, really really fast and no waiting at extraction.

Telling trace farmers to solo isn't being rude or telling them how to play, it's just sound advice.

Annoying how? When doing pubs you are not really working towards anything... Just use recruit if it annoys you that much.

Do about 16 excavations on Earth with any frame, get 6-10 relics, open those for ducats and traces.

If you go in public, expect people to do what they wish and not what you wish!

Here's the thing, while I'm fine running a public mission with 1 person that has no relic equipped, other people won't. This leads to those people dropping squad mid-way through the mission. That empty slot gets filled by someone else who can now no longer pick up traces since the objective was completed and enemies no longer spawn, but the traces that dropped before them joining don't exist for them. So that leaves the 2 other people who were left in the mission with significantly lower chances at a decent relic result, and 1 person whos time was completely wasted. This turns a 3 minute mission into a 6 or 7 minute one and screws out 3 other players.

If you're going to run without a relic, just run it solo or use any random relic you happen to have. I don't want to have to grab pre-made parties to run random ♥♥♥♥ relics every time because the community has gone to hell.

Don't expect random people on the internet on a game of all things to do what you want. Going into pub matches pretty much means you accept anything goes and that people are going to do whatever they want, even if it isn't using a relic.
