Consecutive Night Eidolon Hunting

Hello. Me and my clan mate were attempting to do the triple eidolon hunt. Upon completeing the teralyst we began the the gantulyst. Since it is just the two of us we knew we would't be able to complete it in one night. That being said according to the patch notes you have the ability to complete the bounty over consecutive nights.

"TLDR players can hunt Eidolons across multiple nights without losing progress as long as they stay within their current session."

Opon it becoming day time suprisingly the mission failed. We decided to wait in the plains to see if we could continue the fight with the gantulyst. Some time later night came around and unsuprizingly the mission still remained failed and the fight didn't restart. Is this change a dud or am I interpreting the patchnotes wrongly?

I'd guess, though this is a guess rather than experience, that you have to leave the plains before dawn to avoid the quest failing.

As per the parch notes: "Remaining in the Plains for the entire Day Cycle effectively allows you to hunt the Eidolons across multiple nights... as long as they stay within their current session. Going back to Cetus resets it. "

So they appear to be saying to stay within your session until night rolls by again but when you (or at least we) do it didnt seem to keep any progress,

i personally thought that meant...that you have to do the full circle in one night...and can then start another circle on the next night, without having to leave the plans and without having starting the bounty a second time...but i could be wrong

It probably means you can do the 1st two in the first night, then the last one in the 2nd night.

I'd say it's definitely one of these two.
