Why do people like warframe
I love warframe and so do most of you, but WHY? Theres no purpose, all you do is grind so you can get better at grinding

There's an implicit assumption in this that's rather pervasive throughout game design (and the audience it caters to) in general: To enjoy this thing, I need to be going somewhere with it.

That's where the answer, and the issue, lies. Warframe, Monster Hunter and the like are popular not because they have good progression (because let's be honest - they don't), but because they have good gameplay loosely wrapped within a progression system that itself is clothed in diaphonous story. You could poke holes in the cloth, but you really don't need to. It has plenty already.

We love it because the jumping through hoops for months (or years) to get to the fun that plagues most MMOs is absent. What you want to do, you can do - within a month or two - without paying, burning your nose off on the grindstone or being carried into grace by a more experienced player. Granted, you need something of a headstart knowledgewise, but the timeframe to access the fun part of the game is much shorter than in other games, with that content being relevant to the general play experience for far longer due to the absence of a hard-bound progression curve.

Simply put: Warframe doesn't content-gate fun. For those who like games where it's 1vMany, it's simple, fun, and easy to get into and keep playing. It's as simple as that.

The Warframes look cool. I like shooting stuff. Nuff said.

I think of this game as what MGS could have been if you developed weapons to surpass metal gear. Think about it. Stealth is similarish. Alertness is similar.

i just love the power fantasy. Nothing satisfies me more than slaying thousands of enemies while looking cool.

Because putting in time into the game is worth it, because the entire game is about "progression", meaning anything you do is to work towards something. Yes the grind can be boring as hell and a pain to do but you will always "progress" wether it is in farming resources to build something or farming for blueprint stuff. The only side thing is fashionframe. Which is also good cuz you can make your ♥♥♥♥ stand out.

Anyways although I like Warframe too, I don't play as much as I used to because of the grind being repeatitive and although there are updates every week there is limited content to work towards to once you catch up.

It's a casual stress-free timesink to hop into and get obsessed with again for a few days every month before burning out again because like you said there's not much of a point.
It's like smoking, you never really quit, just take breaks.

I just like the feeling of making and using new weapons and frames.

to be honest unless they make some serious changes the game gets old fast, the entire game revolves around farming for ♥♥♥♥, the only reason you do anything is to farm for ♥♥♥♥, sorties alone aren't fleshed out enough to be something you just do for fun, quests are just sorties but with trransmissions, the plains of eidolon are to empty, once you've gotten the best build there's really no reason to keep playing because there's no reason to farm anymore
My inner completionist and crafting-and-upgrading specialist thrives in a game like Warframe whose whole content base essentially boils down to "get all the things, then upgrade them and make them even better".

Because I can pay to win at fashion frame. Poor pathetic plebs doesn't stand a chance at matching my style.

The game's slick, stylish, and I've never seen a first or third-person shooter that allows mobility like this one.

The weapons are interesting, starting with pretty bog standard rifles and pistols to weirder things like sludge guns, muzzle-loading cannons, and throwing discs. The Warframes themselves have neat abilities with broad and far-reaching effects (don't tell me that the first time you used Rhino's Stomp to shut down a room that it didn't impress you).

Modding is fun - outside of Riven mods at least - and I like that while a few cookiecutter builds are clearly more effective than others, there's still a lot of variety to be had and room for personal-preference tweaking.

I can really appreciate most of DE's monetization strategy. Most things you can buy with plat from DE are either cosmetic or shortcuts - color palettes, skins, resources to craft with, prebuilt weapons and warframes. Slots and Reactors/Catalysts are an annoyance, but the're inexpensive enough that I can overlook them. The fact that platinum is tradeable among players and is the de facto trading currency helps immensely - this game would absolutely be pay-to-win if it weren't for that.

I can also appreciate that, while they flounder and even outright screw up from time to time, they're constantly trying new things and attempt to expand and innovate. I do wish they'd take time out from constant new content releases and do some much, much needed work fixing and optimizing older content, though. Particularly netcode, so that you don't get host migrated or separated from your squad the moment somebody's client freezes up or there's a hiccup in connection.

I can really appreciate that a lot of 'lost forevers' actually come back down the road. Stuff like Machete and Snipetron were once thought gone for good, but they've come back on a couple occasions now. Of course, the big ones aren't coming back, but with the upcoming Sacrifice quest, I can potentially be content that at least an alternative to them exists.

Your opinion that, 3k hours and still find the game tons of fun.

When i was young Computers were just a Gleam in your Fathers eye. Oh no sry that was something else^^. Seriously though i find it fabtastic what Modern Technology can achieve. What wonderful Worlds can be created for our Exploration, and that,s what it,s all about, Exploring and Conquering Fantasy Worlds. Seeing your Charakter get stronger and more adept. Collecting and building and achievements.
Getting that next Warframe, Weapon, Companion. Doing the the last Node and Junction and opening up a new World.
I love solo play and i can take my time and do what i want when i want. i am an older player and can,t keep up with you youngsters^^
I mean i have like 550 Hours and i,ve just found out Yesterday what " Clem" really means. Love it...Clem^^
