Ostron standing daily cap...
I know that if it wasn't capped most people at the highest syndicate level would get infinite points, but I just learned it the hard way... I play this game a lot but just recently PoE peaked my interest, so I'm currently working on building my first zaw and ran out of daily points. So I thought that if I went fishing it would work like regular syndicates and their medallions, as you can turn in for extra points than the daily value.

Went fishing for mortus lungfish, and after some time there, because I don't have the best fishing spear it was took 2-3 hits depending on crit to kill one, I got ~50 of them and went to the hai luk to donate them just to receive nothing.

That's just sad.

You do know the mortus can be catched in 1 hit by the first spear you get right?

You can also save them to fill out tomorrow's daily cap with no problems. Fish that you don't intend to cut up for materials are basically an "I don't want to work today" card for Ostron standing. The game warns you about wasted standing points in several ways, too, so if you actually turned those fish in after your daily cap was full, I'm afraid the fault lies with you.

Also, as Ruben pointed out, there is no 'best spear' - each spear will one shot different varieties of fish. In this case, the Lanzo fishing spear (the first one you can get) one-shots Mortus Lungfish. I think you can also one-shot them with the Peram spear, but don't quote me on that.

Want more cap? get a higher MR.
Want to one-shot any fish? either tey the fishing spears yourself or just play Volt

does Ivara's headshot bonus apply to fishing?

Strange as it may sound, fish don't have heads or any sort of uniquely-targetable body locations, as far as game mechanics are concerned.

Ivara's still great for fishing due to dashwires though. You have to be on shore and raise your spear to get them to spawn, but once they do, you can hop on your wires and get easy shots on them.

probably not, since fishes are more considered props than actual wildlife (considering grey hp and where they're found on Codex)

that's was the thing I referred to, I was wondering if fish in this game have the head feature.
Didn't really expect it to work tbh

and yeah, Ivara is pretty great when you want to just chill and fish as he invisibility lets you avoid random encounters which can be very annoying during the events on PoE
