How long am I chat suspended for?
Was having a conversation with a friend through the chat interface, I told them I was gay (they asked) and now I've been suspended. First of all... What? Second, how long will this last? It didn't say, as a new player I need the chat to get help quickly :/

The region chat is moderated (everyone can see it, after all). Unfortunately it's rather strict...for some reason. So even words like gay are off the table.

Next time, if you want to talk to your friend you should use the personal message channel or the squad channel to talk to them. Those channels are not moderated so you can't get chat suspensions from them. I don't know why you didn't do that to begin with, it's a lot easier considering how quickly the region chat can move sometimes.

And in the mean time, if you need help just use the Warframe wiki.

Automated bans like that should last no longer then a week. Sometimes a day, sometimes you only need to relog, but at most a week.

A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ week? For saying gay? Are you kidding me?

They have strict bots that kick/ban for certain words. If it's your first offense it should only be a kick, relogging into the game should fix it. A week is the most the bot can ban for I think. That said you should still be able to use private messages (whispers) to your friends.

Send a ticket to support if it's longer than a week by the way.
Re-logging definitely didn't do it, still banned. Am I not allowed to talk about my sexuality? Isn't that censorship?

Don't even start that crap.

You said a commonly misused word in the public chat where the bots are aggressive and strict. It wasn't just a kick so this was not the first warning.

You could tell this to your friends over steam chat, discord, clan etc. Anything but the public chat channel.
That's asking for people to get rowdy and that's why the word is on the blacklist. "Traps are gay" is the most common meme to get people to say and hasily kicked or banned.

It's not a matter of censorship. It's a matter of stopping people from saying intentionally offensive stuff just to get the memes rolling and harassment chugging. If it were over 15 years ago you'd have a point, but people quickly stopped being nice on the internet.

Maybe they don't censor the word homosexual? With the way the word gay is used these days I think that's the only option.

How am I supposed to know "Gay" is banned? F-a-g, the N word, etc, course, those would be banned, I've never been in a chat where "gay" was banned.

The chatbot gets triggered by certain words that may be used as insults. Because of the way a lot of people use the word gay, it was deemed a word that should be on list. It's dumb, but DE still doesn't seem to want to change it. According to a forum post I found, saying "gay" results in a 1-day ban.

Maybe your friend knew and he just tricked you into getting chat suspended?
That would be pretty clever haha

Why else would he ask you that specific question in Region Chat?

Unless you're making up the story ofc.

Yes. Does that surprise you?

Many privately owned platforms have some form of censorship.

And no, the first amendment does not apply here.

What you find seems to be an old post. Recently it's a week.

It's really fishy why a friend would ask that in the region chat. Like really though, why? Seems just like to trick you to get banned.

A week? How is that fair, I didn't know, it's my first offence, never done anything else wrong. How is a week fair?
